If he was on a good contract already (perhaps having signed that when his stock was higher?) would the club offer him equal or better terms after a season in which he was just a bit part player just to ensure compensation? His potential new club would need to be prepared to pay a fee and not many league two teams would have cash to spend on a RB? A risk for Rovers to offer good terms in that scenario as we could end up stuck with a player we may not want tying up valuable budget Possibly but in that case why offer a contract at all? Perhaps we were happy to keep him as a back up RB but not on first choice RB wages maybe? Now we’ve got two RB’s (assuming Hunt is not on the move) there seems little point in having a 3rd choice RB on the payroll so I’d be withdrawing the offer - he’s had plenty of time to make a decision and from what I’ve heard his first intention was to move on so signing now might suggest he’s found nothing elsewhere?

Eric like you heard he wanted to go, think it's best for all parties if he finds a new club, we ve obviously moved on and signed players so think he might have burnt his bridges, and maybe we ve withdrawn the offer. We only need players who are fully committed to the cause.

We won't withdraw the offer as we then won't receive any compensation for him Like I mentioned earlier that’s assuming he was offered equal or improved terms. If we now don’t need him he could effectively ‘call our bluff’ and sign leaving us with a contracted player taking up space on the wage bill who is just going to be third choice RB. I’m not sure anyone s going to sign him and be willing to pay a fee - he couldn’t get in a struggling league one side last season.

Perhaps we are happy to have three RBs.
Hunt is not consistently available. Last season we had three in Hunt, Hoole and Gibbons.

Didn't Barton start the season playing 3 at the back and Hoole was seen more as the right sided centre back? When we switched to 4 at the back, Gibbons was soon shifted out on loan. Whilst 3 RBs would be a nice luxury to have, especially with Hunt's injury record, it could be a luxury we cannot afford to have if the purse strings have been tightened a bit and there still being a few holes in the squad.

I thought MT saw what we saw to be honest that Gibbons was a calamity we could ill afford from a playing perspective. That said think he was equally frustrated by Hoole.

I'd personally rather Hunt moved on, good player but often injured and not the future. I hate the way on here people invent story lines to make players (especially young ones that have come through the youth ranks) look like the bad guys and criticise them way more than players that didnt come through the ranks. Hoole has what 100+ L1 and L2 appearances, is captain of the Wales U21 team and a great prospect. Of course someone would pay a small fee for him (we have for players with no experience this window). If he goes, good luck to him, hope he is appreciated more. Maybe Cardiff or Swansea take a punt and loan him out to top L2 side.

Not sure there was ever much doubt about Sinclair signing. He seems settled in the area, it is his boyhood club and he genuinely seems to love being here. He is starting to lose a yard or 2 of pace but he is still a great option to have, especially with the experience he brings both on and off the pitch.

The facts are he is going to be third choice RB if he stays, he was offered a contract but hasn’t signed and we are back at pre-season training. It’s time for him and us to move on. If Hunt was out of contract and it was a straight choice I’d prefer to keep LH as the back up RB if he wanted to stay but that isn’t the situation we have.
