OK - I don't like the fact that we're in the Conference but I have to say that the whole atmosphere is much more enjoyable than League 2. Away clubs and their supporters are very welcoming (even FGR), the football is more fun, Rovers are winning a lot more games. It reminds me of the atmosphere when I first started going to games in 1957 (apart from the crowd was always about 25,000 then) and I must admit I have been pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it is. Of course, if you equate the size of the football club with the size of your todger it is not much fun, but I tend to only be interested in Rovers so I'm not especially bothered that South Bristol are doing well in a higher league. So is it better to be crap in League 2 or good in the Conference from a pure enjoyment viewpoint? Are you sure you are not just enjoying is winning or being the biggest club ? I hate being in the conference its humiliating.

It is nice to be riding high and a big noise in the division, but I can't enjoy it because we should be experiencing that in the Football League, maybe in the third tier, but if not then certainly in the fourth.
We could become like a dad who has fun beating the kids on the local scrub land. Then as he gets older he finds he has to put more effort in... Then he can't even beat them anymore...
We need to get out before we start to enjoy this too much and go into terminal decline.

I would have to liken it to shagging the local bleedin slag back in Hackney, she's a novelty and allows for some humour, but once is enough and if you've got any pride about you then you need to move on to something you're not embarrassed about. In this case, by May we will have slept with 23 of the bitches and as nice and fun as they were i think we should move on quickly. Afterall, if we're seen with them again next bloody year we may just start to get a name for ourselves and the neighbours uncontrollable laughing may spread nationally and the proper burds won't want anything to do with us. So in summary, i didn't want to drop my bloody standards in the first place, i made the best of it while i sodding had to, now in christ's name Darrell me old mucker get us outta here the Bentley is starting to attract attention from the small towners. As you were, that is all. Undoubtedly my favourite poster on here at the moment. More parodies please... unless that really is you Lord Sugah?

Although as it's just an analogy I suppose it doesn't really matter. Take it as you wish!

I'm definately not enjoying looking at the fixture list, and noticing we're playing the local pub team next week, but i do like not having the usual sinking feeling at 3 o'clock, knowing we're not likely to put up a fight, let alone take the points! Particularly away from home where for the past few years we have just rolled over and let any Tom, Dick or Harry have their way with us!!!!!

This league isn't going to stop me enjoying my Sat afternoon out with good friends and family, the whole social thing. Neither is this league going to stop me enjoying cheering on my club and celebrating a good win.
No one enjoys being in he Conference, but enjoy supporting the lads, because they appreciate the lift it gives them all.
As DC said this week, don't fear this business end of the season, enjoy being part of the big push for success.

Funnily enough though we now have a paper just for us (non-lge paper), a national bbc radio programme (non-lge football show) and most useful free online radio commentary of every game. oh, and been on BT sport 3 times already! They also have papers, radio and TV programmes on incurable diseases, but they don't make you feel better either. speak for yourself. Dysentry monthly is on my coffee table as i type. It has a big print run.

The problem is that the atmosphere and wins will only last a short while. Having those fuckers from South of the river reminding us of our year(s) in non-leg will sadly tar us forever. Not as shameful as cheating businesses out of money owed to them though. I agree that a brief sojurn in non-league is essential, or a lot of supporters will lose patience and disappear through the flood gates.

Enjoy this?. I didn't even enjoy League Two. League One wasn't much fun, either. I'd cut off your right hand to get back there.

Enjoying winning more, but I agree with others in this thread that the winning feeling is slightly diluted due to me believing that we SHOULD be beating most of the teams in this division anyway.
I've been to a fair few away games this season and found a number of them to be truly depressing places to watch football - but League Two wasn't exactly much better in that regard.
As for the atmospheres, meh. Most have been poor IMO. But I admit that I can struggle to get myself up for singing when we're playing the likes of Nuneaton, Dartford etc.

i actually think the only football worth watching is championship and above with an acceptance of league one,,,league 2 and conference is painfull to watch at times despite some great pros playing in it,,,, but i do like the gritty honesty of our team,i do admire them so i make allowances and cheer them on as best as i can,,otherwise i would have to find something else to do

I hate being in the conference its humiliating. And there in lays the difference between you and me! I am loving being in the conference. Unbeaten runs. Winning. Biggest support home and away. Love it. All I want is to be proud of the team, see us work hard and see us win a few games. Most of my mates and work mates think any team outside of the top 12 of the Premiershit are non league anyway. There is very little status in any league position outside of the Prem these days but people still respect it when your team has won or picked up a good away point. I'm much happier going to watch Rovers now than I have been since under Holloway. Even in our promotion season under Trolls we were poor for half the season before putting together a good run late on. This is my first ever season watching Rovers at the top of their division and being genuine contenders throughout and I'm enjoying it.

I have loved it after the dodgy start. However there is a certain novelty value about it and I don't think it would be the same two years in a row !!!!!

I think it's because I don't want to be able to compare the different standards and get upset about what we are offered week in week out (or every other week as it is at the moment). It has meant I have been able to really enjoy this season despite visiting some pretty dire stadiums ( or should we just call them venues)

It's not art though, is it? Pretty football is nice, of course, but a football match is a battle. It's about the struggle to win. It may be grim if you're neutral, but for supporters the entertainment is in the striving for the result, even if it's desperate. IMO.
