I want to keep this positive as our squad looks great and with another striker added we could compete in the top half … BUT I can’t help thinking that we haven’t seen our strongest eleven yet.
One or two of the new guys haven’t shown what they are all about yet and I feel that Ward and Thomas even Sinclair are below their usual high standards.
Keeper looks good …. Moore / Wilson / Taylor / Mola look good.
Really unsure what our best midfield looks like … Conteh / Garrett then I am struggling …
Promise up front looks a great addition.
Hoping Brown is moved out this month and would also try and get McCormick gone too as he is L2 standard at best.

Promise looks good but we have to have movement and pace either next to him or out wide. In the next game I’d start with Thomas and bolongo either side of him. Ward looks off of the pace but other than that all of our defenders, midfielders and the keeper are doing ok to very good.

Right now I think it's:
Griffiths Moore Wilson Mola Senior Conteh Lindsay Sousa Thomas Promise Bilongo
I'm basing this on Sousa being good, ofc. Harsh on Connor but that back three looks solid. Bilongo is poor defensively IMO but good going forward and this would have Thomas in his best, most dangerous position. Not sure Hutchinson merits a place in the strongest team based on early performances.

I think it's time for MT to realise LT's value as a number 10 in the centre behind the strikers or as a ARF.
I'd like to see Senior/Hunt in the RWB role and have LT there making the runs into space, getting Promise on the ball in the box a bit more.
LT is absolutely wasted at RWB.

Genuinely change the system to fit him in, he's that good. 3-4-1-2 to 3-4-3.

MT has rarely played LT centrally (nor did JB) and when he has he's looked poor? Perhaps it's a role to try out on Tuesday?

I think we should be playing a back four. The keeper picks himself and at the moment Wilson deserves his place but in time I’d like to see the back four as Senior, Moore, Taylor & Mola.
Thomas wide right. Conteh and Garrett centre mid but not sure on the left. Could it be Anthony as I’m not convinced Sinclair is a starter or someone new?
Omochere as the number 9 with either Sotiriou or Hutchinson at number 10.

Start a thread on what we think MT’s preferred starting XI will be and I’d go with 3 at the back.

The modern game dictates that it’s more a strongest 16
The thing I like about our recruitment is that we can mix it up and change it, and we now have options and a bit of pace (I’d still like more!)
The bench has now become a lot more important than back on the day, you can add almost a whole new midfield and strike force at once.
We look much much more balanced and harder to beat, long May it continue!

We also need to score goals in order win games as well as keep clean sheets, making the team more creative is MT's next task.

Who knows? Too early to say. As above, posters saying what they’d like to see but little basis on which to say the strongest team with any real evidence. I’d have said Connor Taylor as a CH but others have played well so Connor will need to be patient. I’d also have said Luke T but finding a place for him might be hard. After today Griffiths is, with the defence, the only certainties perhaps. Chris Martin now being available is a positive and I’d like to see him playing with Sotiriou or Omochere alongside him. That may give us more of a threat. To an extent nowadays I’m not sure many managers would know their best XI. They will have their best 5/6 players who are more automatic choices than others but would be fitting others alongside them depending on being home or away, who they are playing, and individual battles with other players in the opposition. I guess it’s a lot easier to decide what the best XI might be when you’ve made a decent start, instead of having to do so when you’re bottom without a point.
UTG!

When I first saw Thomas as Coventry he played the 10 role behind Conor Chaplin and JCH. At Barnsley he was used in the 10 role or as an outside attacking forward.

I am sure we will soon see the bestof Hutchinson who has to get used `to the speed of League 1 football as well as get used to the players around him. The two games so far have both been against opponents who dont know what quality football is and most of the time the ball was in the air because the opponents both play that way with Managers who pkay that way.It has been a footballers hell so far in midfield watching the ball sail backwards and forward over their heads. I thought the rare time the ball was on the ground |Hutchinson looked good.
