Thanks for sharing. Kind of backs up my point that it’s not a killer income. Would that payback period be close to non-economical? Given that a lot of inverters have a lifespan of 10-15 years and panels 25 years? Th e inverter replacement would eat up a lot of the benefit from the 16-25 year period? So a labour of trying to do the “right” thing rather than an actual revenue driver? There are a couple of reasons why looking at the payback at 10p only isn't really the way to look at it: 1) Energy used would probably save cost at about 31p (?) per Kwh. It sounds like there are a few experts here with solar and we do have the space for batteries. Would that be viable? 2) I was under the impression that we had agreed to putting solar into the ground to fulfill planning permission conditions. Agree. I'd put forward a pessimistic case. The return from displacing purchased electricity is better than export. The challenge for Rovers is the relatively small daily use for most of the year and especially during the summer months when the PV production is the highest. There is definitely the space for battery storage at the Mem that can offset some of the gap between production and demand. It is probably not the answer for summer peak production, but could do a decent balancing job over a shorter time period. They would lead to greater capital cost, but could reduce operational costs.
On your second point. Yes - it was added as part of the revised application and forms part of the permission, so needs to be completed. I don't recall exactly, but the indication was for a small PV array only. A look back to the planning portal will confirm.
On gasandelectricity's point about the inverter life. At work, we installed a 20kW array back in 2008 which had 4 inverters - 2 are going strong, but 2 had to be replaced. However, the technology and reliability are improving.
Apologies if all that seems a bit geeky. I anticipate that the board are considering the bigger picture on renewables on site as part of the next phase development and it may be that we see something significant as part of the East Stand development. There is an additional point. As Rovers consume electricity at the Mem and the Quarters, it would be possible to arrange a Power Purchase Agreement between the 2 sites, which could effectively mean electricity produced at the Mem cold be consumed at the Quarters and improve the overall financial viability.

Crikey we've got some real solar panel experts on here! Can't wait for the new stadium plans to be announced and we can get the builders and architects posting.

We had the lawyers out in force when Mr Barton was having 'issues' but between you and me I'm not convinced they were all paid up members of the Law Society.

A vanity project plus an opportunity to dig out another newly appointed club officer (and a hint of Joey), a twofer +, should get a few pages out of this subject matter, hahaha Utg.

You can’t ask face to face as it said questions had to be submitted beforehand?

You can’t ask face to face as it said questions had to be submitted beforehand? Which makes sense, as you can get people asking the same question, just in different ways. This way they will get more covered.

It was quite decent in the end but no real answers that mattered. George Friend very good explaining his role and how he prepared ten years ago building a database ready to go into recruitment. Used Bryant Bilongo Asan example of how much is involved and how long it can take. BB was great in saying how delighted he was to have MT lay out what the club could offer him, how he wanted him to play, etc.. BB was also asked about what the fans could do to help the team. He said we can’t, we are brilliant so far. MT added a bit to that asking us not to get on players backs, especially the younger ones and to give them time to settle before judging.
