He’d need to be 4 or 5 yards to the right to be considered not involved in play imho The ball went through the gap between the keeper and the defender and the defender ducked away as it was going towards him, he wasn’t blocking the keepers line of sight but was definitely interfering with the passage of play. No goal. Has to be clearly blocking the keeper's or defenders line if sight: A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by: interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or interfering with an opponent by: preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or challenging an opponent for the ball or clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball *The first point of contact of the 'play' or 'touch' of the ball should be used or gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has: rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent been deliberately saved by any opponent

Need to get a result Saturday otherwise we’re back to square one. We’ll only be back to square one with those that have set their stool out for Taylor to go. The rest of us are relatively happy with 9/12 or even 9/15 if we lose sat . Think most people realised this season was going to have its ups & downs and that’s what we’re getting. Exactly that. If we’re in a relegation scrap going in to December then I’d fully expect Taylor to be sacked but we’re in October and three points off a play off spot. It’s very early days still and the team is beginning to gel as an attacking shape, but defensively we still look dodgey at times although not as dodgey as the squad Barton built for league 1. It’s scrappy , mediocre and mid table football but I’d take that over having 300 more passes than the opposition and lose.

From his side of the pitch, it would look like he's in front of the keeper, as he's on the far side. If I was them, I would be blaming Marquez, he gave them a decision to make.

Aaron Pierre did not rugby tackle Connor Taylor once. He grabbed him, held his shirt and dragged him down to the ground at most corners. This MUST have been very difficult to spot for the officials. If they saw it a penalty was the only outcome. The most bizarre thing about that first half incident was that the referee stopped the game and called both players to him and warned them so must have been watching - he then chose to ignore it. Negligent refereeing which I hope the assessor will report him for. His general performance was awful (both ways) as seems to be the case most weeks in league one. I think referees are recruited from the RNIB membership list these days. I must've missed the first half incident (south stand end). The one I was referring to was in the 2nd half.

Football is a business and there is other factors to running a club than just points and league placing. That was dire again tonight, I l know 7 season ticket holders who never went tonight who were included in the attendance which was in my opinion at best just over 5,000 attendees.
This brand of football is going to drive more fans away, the atmosphere was shocking tonight and it was as fans wanted us to lose to get Taylor gone.
Made my mind up to not go to Reading Saturday, I just can’t watch that again until the next home game with my ST.
We are going to lose more and more money if Taylor keeps serving up this terrible dross.

Think we’ll look better again with Martin leading the line and Odonker or Forde playing alongside him. I like Omochere but think he could do with a few games out of the starting lineup

I thought we played a terrible side and Marquis missed a sitter first half. We had chances yes but so did they, any half decent side would have battered us tonight. Name one player Taylor has improved since he joined us, one? Connor Taylor looks destroyed, Promise isn’t a striker, the football is boring to watch with no brand or plan to it. We beat a truly awful side, they will go down this season or will be close to it. 5,000 fans tonight, why? Because it’s terrible. We got lucky at the end and if the goal is given, they’d have deserved a 1-1 draw, that about sums it up.

That’s promotion form.

A good win against mid table Charlton. I am just being a decent bloke and warning the “community” that the fixtures have been good to us and tough times are coming. I hope the community understands my care for them and us, I’d be surprised if normal service doesn’t return Saturday based on tonight’s showing.

Just got back. FWIW: We got the win we needed although if I’m honest I think Shrewsbury deserved a point. Had we taken a few chances in the first five minutes it may have been different but we didn’t and we should have been punished twice in the first half. Shrewsbury had two relatively easy chances. Promise will need tomorrow off after being assaulted so many times in the first half yet the ref misses most of them and he kept going so well done him. Wilson and Moore were good but Conteh MOM by a country mile. He kept on getting the ball and passing it to one of ours. And not too many did that. Whats happened to Connor T? He looked like an accident waiting to happen. Twice he gave the ball away on the edge of the area and a better side would have scored both times. Lucky it was Shrewsbury. Our goal came from a passage of play where they passed and moved and was an excellent goal. Most of the game the forwards were fed long balls and high punts upfield so not the best of games to watch. When we play through the midfield we look good but it didn’t happen often enough imo. But the team couldn’t be accused of not putting a shift in. Well done all. Not the best of matches to watch but enjoyable with the win.
UTG!

I thought it was a relatively open game and we had a little bit more quality than Shrewsbury. Not a lot but a little! Thought Shaq looked like with a run he could be an asset, Conteh looked solid, as did Wilson at the back. Promise worked hard without reward but doesn’t look like he is going to score. Having seen some comments on Connor Taylor I thought he looked solid on the whole, he will get back to his best with more games.
Having said all this, Shrewsbury still deserved a point.
On Taylor, I understand the football isn’t great but I have to say I feel for him. Some of the abuse is completely out of order. I am sure he is trying to do his best and the vitriol isn’t helpful. Fans shout at him and slag him off then slag him off because he doesn’t go over and clap the fans. The polarisation of opinions is divisive and is affecting the atmosphere. Tonight was the worst atmosphere I can remember in over 40 years of watching the Gas.
I know it’s a long standing debate but to move forward we need To give the manager more time, keep together, back the team and try to help the team get up some forward momentum . I genuinely believe that is better than getting rid of ‘the clown’/‘PE Teacher’ and bringing in Holloway, as has been mentioned by some. There’s a reason he isn’t a manager elsewhere. Even worse, calls to bring back Barton……. Just my opinion of course!

A win that isn't going to convince anyone of anything, but we keep plugging away
The board need to make a decision and come out and back Taylor if the have any faith in him or just sack him. We need to galvanise behind something/someone and it's no good hanging Taylor out there game after game as it isn't going to benefit anyone if everyone is wondering if this is the match he is going to get the chop

I can see the frustration with this, the other option would be trying to play it round at the back and that just puts us into trouble. You only have to look at the cross field pass from Taylor to Soussa that was easily intercepted by their forward with no one in front of him. So I'm not 100% what the answer is. The goal we scored was pass, move, pass, move, pass, goal. Was fantastic to watch and to me shows that Taylor does want to play good football in the final third of the pitch. The group need a few more wins and the confidence will be back and that creates more wins purely from the confidence.

Need to get a result Saturday otherwise we’re back to square one. Tbf im not sure that’s true. If we lose then 9/15 is still a good return. You win some, you lose some. We can’t call for a managers head every time we lose a game
