I've read the comments on this feed. Long story short Nobody likes change There's more to it then just change, the worry is we know so little about the new owners, at least when Wael arrived we could all see that he was a member of Jordanian banking family, before that we all knew about the Dunfords and NH's business interests, all we know about the Al Seead's is that the father seems to own a property development company whose website hasn't been updated for around a decade(?) and the son owns a fast food franchise. We all know Rovers need roughly Ā£3m/Ā£4m to survive so where's that kind of money coming from post Wael?

Thanks Wael for your efforts over the past 8 years. Not sure what his legacy will be but it would be super critical not to be pleased with the training ground, the fact that he saw us through Covid (though tbh so did every board of every one of the 92 league clubs, no club went out of business) and eventually helped to build a new stand. And football-wise he gave us two great promotions although Iām not sure they were āhisā. In ā16 he had just come in and in ā22 we should never have been there in the first place and probably wouldnāt had he not made errors in three managerial appointments.
He came over as genuine and a very nice man but ultimately his tenure was a catalogue of missed opportunities. He was no businessman. There was no real plan when the family took over and it soon became apparent he was more interested in the glamour and celebrity that surrounded football rather than constructing a realistic business plan. It became apparent he was the public face of the club but the family were setting the financial limits of what he could and couldnāt do. By the time he took over from the family Covid was hitting and understandably he was into ensuring our survival during the crisis. Good businessmen surround themselves with other good people, Iām not sure Wael ever did that.
Ultimately I think his ownership was mixed because he came in promising the earth and not delivering. My lasting memory of him will be his arrival and him saying very clearly we will have a new ground and āfinances will not be a problem.ā It slowly became clear that finances could be a problem and when it all went t*** on the eve of the Charlton opener in ā17 I donāt think he ever recovered his credibility. And his starting the FruitMarket ā¦.. ridiculous given it was always unlikely. It was a sign of panic, nothing more. I sincerely thank him for writing off our debt at the end of Covid but his running of the club was responsible for much of it.
Iām sure many will disagree but I donāt necessarily want our owners to be nice guys I want them to be competent businessmen or women who have a plan and the finances to carry out the plan. And to be honest I donāt know enough about our current owners. Iāll give them the benefit of the doubt at the moment given that theyāve completed the South Stand ( I know they didnāt start it), and have tentative ground development plans. They also spent a good deal of money in the summer recruiting players on a scale we havenāt seen very often. I am worried about the rumours that some on here have posted about some of the people around the club on a day-to-day basis and appearing to treat us like a game of Championship Manager. But letās face it our history is littered with fathers buying the club and letting their son play with us. Sometimes it works like the Dunfords, sometimes it doesnāt and at the moment the jury is out.
I travel with optimism as I always have! š

The fact that we donāt really know anything about them worries me too but in the flip side the fact that weāve shelled out more on transfers this summer than ever before shows theyāre supporting the playing side of things quite nicely. In the past when weāve sold a player for say a million weāve spent around a quarter of that on transfers . Not under this lot. Problem is are we paying the fees we agreed in the summer? Paying Ā£500K for Omochere always seemed madness so perhaps they always had no intention of paying it!!Ā I donāt know the answer to your question and neither do you or you wouldnāt be asking me it. However My post still stands, weāve never spent anything like what weāve had coming in until now.

The 18 million pounds capitalisation of the debt by Wael was a massive investment that has totally eclipsed anything before.
To state that it was self-inflicted through his own poor management is the most naive thing that I have ever read.
We will miss him. A lovely guy who put his money (MILLIONS) into the club.

I wonder why he's staying on as Club President for 18 months? I assume he'll be paid back for his shares over that period but he surely won't have any active role as a director? Just an honorary title as a mark of respect I suppose.

Lots to he grateful to Wael for and I'm sorry to see him go. As for what happens next I've no idea what to think, I can understand people being sceptical given the silence & rumour but part of me thinks why go to the trouble & expensive of buying Wael out without having a plan. Hopefully things will start to become apparent now but as always only time will tell

Wael chose the present incumbents. If they are not who or what they say they are then itās just another example in a long list of his excellent judgment during his tenure.
Walked or pushed, itās his own fault.

Concerning. The only voice media wise has been wael, and more recently through other channels rather than to us. So Iāll ask again, why is the mem all of a sudden the best for the club yet in waels own words all those moons ago āwe canāt stay at the mem, not viableā. Then we built a (not so temp) temp stand, and we know as gas heads thatās the end of that end of the ground project) while talking to a company about building a gert lush stadium.
By a lot of peopleās views, a play thing for his son who couldnāt even spell the word āikeaā.
Happy doomsday gas heads.
Guess there 100% behind Matty Taylor too.
