More to the point, how much did we pay poke when he was with us? Looks like a high wage to me, don't tell t-bone!

He's only their 12th highest earner! How can a league 2 side pay someone 8.5K a week? That's a total players' wage bill of c. £3,400,000 per annum and they're mid-table. Crazy.

How the hell do broke Pompey afford that? Under FFP, which I don't understand in the lower leagues, presumably their high attendances and therefore high turnover allow them to pay these wages under FA rules, but I thought they owed squillions to creditors? If I were one of those creditors I'd be getting my solicitor to knock off a quick letter asking why they're paying £440,000 a year to a 34 year old dumped last season by Bristol City.
Oh well. They can always go into administration again. Write off most of their debts and start the spending spree again. Seems to work quite well for most clubs.

That Jed Wallace was their best player against us last season and he's their second lowest earner!

Are we sure these figures are genuine as it seems an unusually detailed amount of data to be in the public domain? Although Tubbs earning £2K+ per week doesn't seem far off the mark as you sense brunt was on £100K per week last season?
If Muzzy's salary is correct you can see why he was so desperate to leave us as his wages wernt up by around a factor of 10!

I would have thought Woodgate would be on more than 4k a week.

Won't be long till Portsmouth are back in administration , constantly trying to beat the system. Hope they get kicked out the league if it happens again.

would be better for a standard salary for all players with bonus incentives, such as first team appearances/goals/clean sheets etc
Dreaming I know... But
How players feel they can earn 4x the wage of others for simply turning up is mental.

That Jed Wallace was their best player against us last season and he's their second lowest earner! jack whatmough also got good reviews and he's allegedly on £423 a week! How can he share a dressing room with someone earning 20 times his salary?? Pompey are mad. Got no time for them. None at all. If people think we were slightly jumped up idiots in Lge 2/Lge1,playing over the odds, then they should look at Pompey. BTW - re original comment on Tubbs. Football players /agents lie- shock horror.

You seem to be missing the point. Look at the contract expiry dates. These are contracts that have mostly run for quite a while and have to be played out. A good number expire this summer. That is the time to review this table.
These liabilities are nothing to the ones their new chairman has already cleared.
The most obvious fact is that despite all these wages being paid out, they are still crap.
