...or does anyone else get the impression that the additional signings are being made with the play offs in mind. We seem to be signing players who are too good and perhaps too expensive to be viable long term in the Conference but who potentially will give us the class up front that will win us the playoffs.

I think it's best to prepare for the worst case scenario IE. Play offs.
Well done DC on acting quick IMO.

Good work by DC and the board. No one can criticise them for not going all out to get out of this god awful league.

I don't think DC is preparing for the play-off's. He's preparing for next season in the Football League !

agree with most of this. good planning and everyone is really trying to go up.
BUT, if only we'd had a bit of this quality earlier in the season.
Whatever happens we should be in an excellent position to dominate the Conf next season if we don;t go up, and if we fill a couple of key positions, including wingers and creative midfield. oh, and if the best [most value for money] players and the manager stay!

Some of these players were simply not available earlier in the season for whatever reason. NH has certainly backed the manager to the hilt, nobody can deny that.

Nothing wrong with having a Plan B.

Nothing wrong with having a Plan B. I am not saying there is and in fact it is to DC's credit that he is thinking this way

DC said himself he wants the strongest squad possible for the run in and the last game if it comes down to it. If players are available for the play-offs and we are in it that is good

Given the position DC was put in re: team selection in that infamous game last May, I'm not surprised he's bringing in some reinforcements whilst he can

Perhaps we've leanrt from last season's failings and have planned ahead just in just we finish in the Play offs, plus I assume signing a player for a month or so is far cheaper than signing them for 6 months.
Although with so much money at DC's disposal now you do wonder why we had to suffer the likes of Martin earlier in the season?

That makes sense when you think where our biggest problem for the last 7 or 8 years lies.
