I think its more about investment kp. There are, apparently, some lined up. No, KP is right that they've repeatedly talked about self-sustaining income streams, which does not (according to my definition) mean new investors. I assume it means the gym, the conference facilities (well located to the motorway and rail networks), the convenience store and concerts...can't think of any others though...

Self sustaining income streams are sources of income that don't require outside assistance, that doesn't mean it will definetly be profitable though. Many gyms have lasted a very short time because of lack of users/membership and just because this particular gym would be on campus doesn't guarantee in ay way that it will turn a profit.the convenience store could well be a sainsburys I would think and if so just the rental or/and a very small percentage of the profit would come the way of,well the UWE or BRFC.

I'm just surprised that so many, obviously well educated people, just blindly accept that that the UWE will make the money. No tangible means have been given on how this will happen. Don't get me wrong, I am not looking for trouble with this but I do remember, vividly, the promises about the Mem doing the same and sorry but I just do t blindly believe what is said. If they put some flesh on the bones to help me understand how this will be self sufficient then maybe I could better understand Income streams galore when we have the UWE. Eg. The biggest conference venue in the South West. (Not conference as in our division - although that's true also)... A convenience store, a gym and conference facilities plus 3 gigs a year. There will be overheads. It does not add up.

In that (successful year for the football club) the stadium company (they own 33%) lost £100k and the football club lost £8m. If the break-even attendance for the Mem is 9500, I'd love to know what it's predicted to be for the UWE!

It's very easy to tell us it will be self financing but to show how this is to become reality is another thing plus ANY new enterprise take time to build up a customer base.

I'm just thinking about what I wrote as well. Surely if the UWE is self financing the break even football attendance should be lower than 9500???

I am guessing there will be facilities the students can make a lot of use of. Bars, shop, gym, venue. I was under the impression that the student physios would make use of the UWE.

Surely conferences etc would be quite a large part of the total income.

Surely conferences etc would be quite a large part of the total income. UWE already has a 300 + conference facility and sports gym as well so they would be direct competitors with the new stadium facilities I believe.

I can imagine the question and answer session now...
Q. "Toni, when we move into the new UWE stadium what extra income and expenses will the club be expecting?"
A. "We're moving into the UWE? I thought that wasn't an option! I've never worked out the financial consequences..."

This is all rather hypothetical as it's all gone very quiet on the stadium front.

I'm losing interest rapidly atm and would really struggle to have any enthusiasm for our future if it goes tits up.

This is all rather hypothetical as it's all gone very quiet on the stadium front. That is precisely the point. It is ALL hypothetical. Nothing is based upon real fact but upon projections. No one can say ABRACADABRA BISH BOSH BISH and make the place turn over streams of cash to make it self financing. It will take shrewd planning, sales plans and advertising to compete with the businesses already providing services in the area. It will have the potential to be self financing but it will take time, strategy and good planning to get it up and running.
