BRISTOL Rovers chairman Nick Higgs has welcomed dialogue with all supporters as long as it takes place through official channels.
In response to the impending formation of groups of fans independent from the official supporters club, Higgs yesterday reiterated his desire to continue to communicate with "all" fans and pointed to the recent introduction of open forums and question and answer sessions as evidence that views from the terraces are being listened to and considered.
Higgs, pictured, added that he was aware of independent groups mobilising elsewhere, but he said: "Unless they are a bona fide group then it is impossible to communicate with everybody all of the time. I am open to communicate with all of our supporters – I actively welcome such dialogue – but this has to be done through the official channels.
"I get emails and letters from a lot of people, but I don't know who they are or what their motives may be. That is the whole idea of holding official forums where people are invited to come along and be part of an open discussion.
"A number of directors were present at the recent Supporters Club meeting to answer questions and we are in the process of finalising details for the forum we are to hold at the Memorial Stadium at the end of July.
"There will be an opportunity for all supporters to come along and put forward their questions where myself and the rest of the directors will be endeavouring to address any concerns they may have regarding how the club is to move forward in the future.
"All of our supporters are welcome to come along to the forums and take part in open dialogue because I am always happy to engage with our fans through those bona fide and official channels."
Higgs also says the internal review started in the aftermath of relegation is "on-going" and he added: "The focus of the review is really to analyse what areas each of the directors is to look at so as that our responsibilities don't overlap to make sure that the same mistakes are not made again.
"We already know that the reasons we were relegated were simply down to the fact that the team didn't score enough goals on the back of a poor recruitment strategy.
"Announcements will be made as and when there are any changes resulting from the review but there is no definitive end date or plans to present findings in one hit.
"We are taking due cognisance of the comments being made and the ideas that come out of the discussions that are being held at the forums and that is all part of the review."
Higgs also labelled recent rumours surrounding his future in the position of chairman as "rubbish".
The Football Association-led investigation into claims that Wycombe Wanderers breached rules pertaining to third-party ownership is expected to be concluded in the next three to four weeks.
