I cannot believe for one minute that the MPs would have written to Sainsbury's without consulting BRFC first. I mean, given they are almost writing it on our behalf (that's how it reads at least) they should definitely have got our approval first; especially as Nick may have said "no need, they've assured me" etc. Therefore, I think it's safe to assume that either:
1) We asked the MPs to do this 2) They asked us if it were ok to do so
Whichever option it was, it's clear the club do not 100% know for sure the deal is going ahead as, if they did, they wouldn't have asked the MPs to write the letter or we wouldn't have said it was ok to do so (as there wouldn't have been any point).
The silence from Sainsbury's is deafening. After all the delays you'd have thought they'd be incredibly keen to get things moving and tie things up.
I didn't believe Higgs for one minute when he said they were sorting out the final few contractual bits and pieces... bullshit. With all the delays (of which many were not planned) all bits and pieces could and should have been sorted out well before now.
It is 99.9% certain IMO that Sainsbury's are dragging their feet. The question is whether or not it will go ahead in the end. It may be linked to the new guy taking over (see a few posts further up) and that the re-shuffle has delayed things, and that it will go ahead in the end.
IMO though, it won't.
Sorry to say it, but this is BRFC and nothing good ever happens to us; simple as that. You can guarantee the stadium is dead and, not only that, we're now worse off than we've ever been because we:
1) Took our eye of the ball and focused too much on a stadium that won't end up happening and suffered relegation to non-league as a result 2) Spent a s*** load of money on all these legal proceedings etc for something that won't end up happening
I can see the club folding within 3 years. I've said it for some time now and if the stadium doesn't happen (which I really don't think will) then that's Goodnight Irene for us I reckon.
I believe the prospect of the new stadium is all that gasheads have left to cling on to at the moment and if it is taken away attendances will plummet.Even if we got £6m in compensation (that's a good un) enabling us to start anew with a financial clean slate, our long term prospects would be very limited to put it mildly.I truly fear a massive s*** storm is fast approaching.
Yep, if we don't get the stadium, we HAVE to return to the league at first time of asking - that is the only thing that could lift spirits.
Failure to do so (which is very likely tbf) and I think it's game over.
