Underwhelmed by this. Is he a strong enough character around pro footballers ? Last season his input didn't have much effect did it (thinking about our (lack ) of finishing)- remember Accrington when we must have had 15 shots ballooning over the bar as an example !

Never even knew that Marcus Stewart was from the dark side until he signed for them,no doubts about his loyalty to us in his playing days so why should there be any now as assistant manager. Still if we turn out to be dogshite again this season, those that consider him to be a dirty shithead will in their own eyes have a legitimate target to start on if that's what floats their goatscaping boat.

If you do well you are a Gashead/legend. If you don't do as well or someone dislikes you, you are a Shithead. Status subject to change daily. Simple stuff Si, do try to keep up.

Have we got WINNERS at the club ? This is the big question from the top to the bottom and through the coaching/fitness staff and onto the players ?
Successful/ Winning leaders spread this on to the people under them, they lead by example and so inspire their charges to be winners/goal achievers too.
I ran my own business for 10 years and that is what I tried to do. Don't think its any different within a football club surely ?

without entering the whole MS is this and that 'debate', and who really was coaching the strikers last season, I say give the man a chance this season.
last season I mentioned several times that it was weird how we couldn't score for toffee considering the backroom staff we had.
JW was actually quite a prolific striker in his day (albeit at a low-ish level), marco was the most talented Rovers striker I have ever seen, and even DC had a decent goal scoring record for a midfielder.
clearly something was wrong, and I think quite a bit of it stemmed from JW's tactics/ethos and the recruitment of players, rather than the coaching, so I am optimist about this season.

I saw his first ever game for Gas and EVERY game I saw him him I would NEVER have doubted he wasn't a gashead on that pitch. They were innocent days I suppose (no forums and abuse - BEP, bath Chron and even Ceefax were our news sources...) and I only heard about drinking and City once he went to play for them. More fool city though. they paid him an alleged £5k a week and got 5 goals. we paid him a pittance and got 79. The guy is a gas legend and that is good enough for me. Whether he is a good coach is obviously a separate story, but i would never trashtalk a gas legend.

I don't get the comment about Marcus not being able to string two words together? I've seen quite a few televised interviews over the years, and, apart from the standard West Country accent, he didn't sound particularly different to the vast majority of footballers.

He was our forwards coach last season and look how shocking we were going forward. I'm not convinced by him as a coach/assistant manager yet and he is obviously the cheap option, just because he used to play for us for several seasons does not make him the right man for that particular job. Will reserve judgement for now but he has got a lot to prove in my book. You can coach players as much as you want but if the manager insists on 90mins of hoofball then there's not a lot he can do about that.

The problem was the players none of which were remotely prolific goalscorers during their careers. Coaching can only have so much effect.

I think the problem was service. If chances are created, players will score. No creativity, no regular service from wide, poor set pieces, poor at ball retention.

the fact that our most creative midfield player JJOT only had 1 assist all season speaks for itself
