We need to really give this competition a good go, possible huge day out at Wembley available to, 40,000 Gasheads at Wembley and a decent financial gain would really be a springboard to better times as well as a reward for our long suffering supporters. Promotion/ FA Trophy Double???   |

I'm not too keen on this as posters from other clubs have pointed out it's a mickey mouse competition and doing well in it can jeopardise your promotion chances with a backlog of fixtures.
Also, there is just no way in my opinion that we'd take anything like 40,000 to Wembley for the FA Trophy. A nice day out for about 12-15,000 of us if we're lucky.

I dunno kev, it's not like the league 2 play-off final is much of a glamour tie, and neither is it much in the public/media domain, but we took 40000.... I think when the gas are at Wembley people come out of the cupboard and start feeling the love.... also, the football league trophy was considered mickey mouse, but given the 2 times we made the final we were promoted in the same year.... so maybe not so mickey mouse on those grounds.... I think if we don't take everything seriously then we'll end up worse off |

As we will be out of the FA Cup by the time we enter the first round of the Trophy on 13th Dec, can not see why a good run in it will not be beneficial to us. As for taking 40k to Wembley for the final, no chance whatsoever!

On the I.F we have been advised by a luton fan to completely ignore the fa trophy due to the fixture congestion you always get at that level. I think we should focus on the league and play a fringe team in the trophy.

Every Non league fan i've spoken to suggests giving the FA Trophy as wide a berth as possible, games take precedent over league games and cause backlogs , they are like the LDV of non league for finance in that you lose a fortune as gates are tiny untill the semi finals....
IMO If we have serious asperations to get back in the league then we have to use this competition to blood youngsters and give game time to squad players, not put extra pressure on the 1st team squad and risk injuries!
