I think pre-season as a full time player will do wonders for Bliss.

So good to get back watching the gas today, a few things I took from today were :- Lyttle looked very comfortable playing that step up from youth football. Get him out on loan next season and he will come good.
One of the best games I have seen Gosling play, did very well in centre mid.
Montano showed some good touches and think if we use him correctly could be our new Carayol.
Bodin had a good first half but fizzled out in the second a little. Not too sure what his natural position is as only seen him described as a attacking midfielder. Kept switching sides first half with Montano.
Broom looked good when he came on, lots of pace and again one for the future.

On my way back from Temple Meads now. Great day out. Jay Lucus looking like a decent option in a pinch. Still think he should be loaned out to a conference side for the first half of the season. Bliss had a very good game, flashes of brilliance when he's got that confidence. Sinclair looking very very sharp indeed. Pint that b*****d banner erected to great fanfare. No one took it too serious. Great banter with Mildy and the ref. Salisbury look to be back on their feet for their first difficult season at level 9. Gas attendance just under 400.

Mildy is always a good sport tbf.

Surprised Broom came on in midfield. I thought he was a sweeper.

Who was that who beat a few players and set up the 3rd? Impressive.
Nice second from Bliss too.

Thought Blissett looked sharp in the highlights - the pace for the fourth goal is unreal! Their defender is just left in his dust.
Great run and cross from Lyttle for Lucas' header. Love the pace and strength.
And Montano's drive infield and throughball for the second is pretty tasty as well.

Well done, lads. Good to see that we had a comfortable win but the space given to us by Salisbury all over the field was unreal and indicative of the gap between the teams. I wouldn't read too much into any of the performances for that reason.

Cristian "La Araña" Montaño, was also impressive. Hit some brilliant balls up to the forwards but as people have said the space we were given was crazy.

My thoughts echo those already given on here really. Get Lyttle out on loan ASAP and keep an eye on him, he looked very composed. Can't see him getting anywhere near our lineup though with Leadbitter, Lockyer and James Clarke all being ahead in the pecking order. Think he has a future though based on yesterday.
I liked the look of Montano and think Bodin could be a player too but wasn't totally convinced by him.
Good to see Sincs back, Blissett had a decent game.
Their goal was a peach and their number 7 looked a class act - he'll tear a few defences to shreds in their division.
Decent day out, take a few positives out of it but obviously with a major pinch of salt due to quality of opposition and the amount of space they gave us all over the park.

Agree with nearly all the above, except Gosling having a good game. he looked totally out of depth in the middle, and although he might get an accolade for a few decent completions it felt like he needed 1O passes in order to get 1 that went to a Gas player. Gleenslade struggled although he was sometimes up against their best player.
Cracking day out, good performance, good to see some new players up close, great weather, and great turn-out from Gasheads and Salisbury fans. Surprised it was segregated! Great to see Salisbury back up and running - PLEASE don't feck it up yet again.
Lucas is an absolute dynamo. Even at 9O mins he was running full pelt! Incredibly fit, and to see a player run the channels like that, with such happiness and determination is what most lower lge football fans crave. His second goal was far better than the video may suggest. I was right behind the goal and although Lyttle did brilliant to get the cross in, as it looked like he had taken the ball too far, Lucas also deserves a lot of credit. the ball was behind hm and he arched his body back and still got in a header with enough power and precision to creep inside the post, low down; a goalie's nightmare to try to save and the sort of goal you see top, top strikers pulling off in the PL.
Montano looked good and although Bodin faded and made a few poor decisions, he really looked like a man playing to earn a contract, which is grt to see after so many non-committed players we've seen in the past. The first goal actually started with him winning 3 full blooded tackles in a row to help Lyttle out, who slightly struggled defensively at times [typical modern full back].
All 4 goals were really good.
I'll write more in next week's blog and also a 'football by footpath' special.

Love the pace and strength. And Montano's drive infield and throughball for the second is pretty tasty as well. all 4 were really good goals. Before anyone jumps down my throat the following is just info for those not at the game... Bliss had a good game, and both finishes were real ly sweet, there was far more to the last goal than the 5 second highlights suggest. it was literally the 9Oth minute and their number 6 should never have been on the pitch. Not only was he the heaviest player on the pitch {a lot of pre-season work still needed!}, but also clearly injured for at least the last 3O minutes. I'm still staggered he didn;t go off. he was a complete liability; could hardly walk. And they made about 6 subs, and none of them were for him. Whilst i totally appreciate that football at that level loves lumpy, big, rugged centre backs who'll never whinge and would play on with an amputated arm, it was suicide to keep him on the pitch. His CB partner, number 5, was even subbed even though he was clearly fitter. he was replaced by a rather small player, which suggests to me they didn't really want to replace either of them as they didn't have any lumpy tall donkeys on the bench. I realise it's only a pre-season game, & he's still looking at players/trialists, but I've always had a feeling Steve Claridge is very old-fashioned in his general football outlook.
Well done Bliss but he'll never get that in a lge game, and as for his 8 metre touch as he cuts inside... well, let's just say that that also won't be allowed in Lge football.
Very impressed that 7 of our starting 11 played a full 9O mins, and some, like Bliss and Lucas were still running like gazelle's. We did struggle a bit when the 3 youngsters came on, but obviously they came on precisely because we were well ahead and it was a great time to bring them on.

Im becoming obsessed with the Goalkeeping situation, if only because with 3 already on the books we are trialling another, Darrell cant be confident in what he has got.
How was Mildy for their Goal, looked a blinder from the highlights, but also seemed that Mildy was at that side of the goal. Should he have done better?
