Conference players who need an injection of a lot more quality. Agreed. Certainly not a top seven side at the moment.

Central midfield were our problems yesterday. The Lines/Lockyer combination was awful. Agree 100% on the use of the subs yesterday. Said at the time DC may aswell have not bothered, he just made like for like changes. How could Montano make any impact when he was never given the ball? I guess Sinclair wasn't given the ball anymore but he was Man of the Match, Montano got the ball but quickly followed by 2 or 3 quick tackles. As someone else said it was like Eastleigh last season again. In games like that we need leaders but unfortunately Mansell & McChrystal were out injured and everybody else seems to go missing. Perhaps Sinclair snapping at players in midfield may have stirred things up, rather than Lockyer taking an age to find a pass.

No panic- we will do well this season, maybe not top 6 as DC predicts, but top half with a view to 2017 promo I've read a lot of crap on here last night and today, over reaction, exaggeration etc 0-1 isn't being out fought, shocking, poor, embarrassing, ad nasseum... We could and should have won that yesterday, Taylor and Harrison should both have scored and I hope the big lesson those learn from yesterday is that when chances come a division higher, they must be clinical. Frustration for we is that it's not that I think we were bad, I just think we could have been better and missed opportunity. We were reasonably solid, Lockyer is taking an unreasonable bashing here, he didn't have a bad game and it wasn't Sinclair's place he was taking, it was Mansell's who I thought we missed yesterday. I wouldn't have played Sinclair from the start, the mistake was not starting Monakana on the right and stretching Northampton with width, and Montano on the left. If you're going to play against big lads and catch match them for size and power you use the width and go round them. DC does seem to have an issue with two out and out wingers, perhaps he feels it leaves the two in the middle vulnerable? But we are at home and should be taking it to the opposition. So we did ok, not great but also not poor, embarrassing, out fought etc etc It will get better, it's only one game

We never should have won that yesterday! If we'd have scored those 2 goals ot would have been very harsh on by far the better side. We deserved to lose and did. But yes it will get better. I agree, also if they would of scored the two chances they missed it could of been 3-0. The better team on the day won

Round pegs in square holes, The Beard ain't no winger, and Tom is a defender, so stop tinkering DC and pick the best players in their position, what next employing a physio who can't go on the pitch!

We could and should have won that yesterday Can't agree with this at all. Yes Taylor should have scored, no doubt (or at least shot...). But JJO'T scored from a free header 8 yards out, Marc Richards missed an absolute sitter in the second half to make it 2-0, Richards narrowly missed from a 1 on 1 in the first half, and Mildy made a fingertip save from a header that was going in. Apart from Ellis' chance, we created absolutely nothing in the second half. We will get better, but I can't see how we should have won the game yesterday. We were extremely poor.

TBH I think they could have easily gone up a gear even if we had scored.
As DC said we were not streetwise enough and I totally agree but I feel he needs to put that right with more experience/leadership in the midfield.

This is the first game and in all honesty we have had all summer to sign a strong experienced midfielder to compete with Mansell and Lines for a place as Sinclair,Ollie Clarke or Lockyer are not good enough to dominate a midfield. It was DC's job to make sure we were streetwise enough to compete with a team that are nowhere near the best in this division. If you are going to play with two wingers then you put a great deal of pressure on the two in the middle and I think even Mansell and Lines together might struggle.

Not if you play 4-4-2 correctly Steve. If the winger on the opposite side tucks in and makes 3 in the middle, as well both protecting their full backs, there's no reason for not playing two wingers. DC doesn't seem to like doing this and plays a lopsided midfield 4 instead with just one out and out winger. No doubt he has his reasons.

Steve, after Wembley I thought with Lines,Mansell and Monkhouse with one out and out winger that would be good enough in this division. That's not to be now but we should have got a better option in as I agree with you the other 3 are not the solution, Tom I think is good enough as a central defender but either he has to wait his turn or we go 3 at the back with two wing-backs which I thought we might do this year. It's too early to make judgement on our two new wingers but of course they need decent service which neither got yesterday.
