A message to all Gasheads
At the end of last season smoke grenades/canisters were thrown pitch side on a couple of occasions from the North Terrace (Blackthorn Terracing).
This was reported to the FA by the football officials and Bristol Rovers were made aware, in no uncertain terms, that this type of behaviour would not be tolerated.
The FA did mention that points could be deducted which would, as you can imagine, have had a devastating effect on our promotional chances.
We may have to instigate rigorous searches of all fans at all turnstiles which in turn will delay entry to the stadium in order to try and stop these thoughtless individuals.
This is your team and your club. You can help by reporting anyone you see dropping, throwing or in possession of any flare, smoke grenade/canister or pyrotechnic by reporting it to a member of the safety stewarding staff.
These pyrotechnics are extremely dangerous and can cause fatalities to the old, young and anyone with breathing difficulties.
If they come into contact with the skin they cannot be extinguished by water. The temperature, when ignited is in excess of 1000 degrees Celsius
Please be aware that anyone found bringing any type of pyrotechnic into the Memorial Stadium will be arrested and receive an automatic club banning order.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION IN THIS MATTER.
John Harper
Deputy Safety Officer

The bloke sat next to me at Yeovil was livid when the flares came out. Silly really and if we get points docked points because of it I hope those responsible get lengthy bans.

In fairness, they aren't flares. It's coloured smoke. Don't get me wrong, that could cause breathing problems if someone suffered from severe asthma. It is however MASSIVELY different to actual flares that are thrown in some games (for example Italian games, Russian games etc - those things are seriously dangerous). Edit: And for our SO to refer to them as "pyrotechnics"

Waiting to hear if disposable barbecues are allowed in. No and I believe they are also banned on the downs so don't pray for consecutive relegations just so you can celebrate goals with a sausage in your hand! Matron!

Given that we were all frisked to within an inch of our crown jewels before entering the stadium at the Yeovil game, I can only assume that the person who took the smoke bomb onto the terrace must have had it stuffed down his pants. Maybe the steward took one terrified look at the oversized bulge and thought better of it as to get too close may have risked it growing even bigger!

That's why there was such a queue against Northampton then nothing to do with closed turnstiles
Problem solved fans fault

They also do not achieve anything like the temperatures that the more dangerous flares do. Some of them are also pretty small and, I'd imagine, easy to conceal. HOWEVER These have been classed together with flares by the football authorities and hence there is a big clampdown. The club is rightly taking a tough stance as there could be severe consequences for future offences. For anyone thinking of taking one to future Rovers games - don't bother.

Anyone taking one of these to a game should get a lifetime ban, simple as that.
Whether you agree with them or not, taking something into the ground that could see the club fined or docked points is just plain stupid.
I'd encourage everyone to report any fan seen to be carrying one of these.
I certainly don't travel all over the country supporting the Gas and celebrating wins like yesterday just to have the points chalked off because of some idiot with a flare or coloured smoke canister.

Has any club been docked points for this? We are not exactly the biggest culprits of this activity. I don't buy into this scaremongering and think smoke grenades are cool. Docked points? Nah.

Surely most of us wouldn't do something which risked the club losing points, or potentially injury a fellow spectator?
