Wasn't there today (stuck up a mountain in Andalusia) but can't help feeling everyone raised their game today cos of unfinished business last season. This squad came so close to pipping them to be champions, we had things to prove. Point proven I say, let's hope we can keep it up. Loving it!! Was worried Akinde would strike. Meh!

One of the few times I think winning the toss and changing ends hindered the opposition... All his best chances came in the second half when the Blackthorn end were able to remind him of ...well, various things...reckon they wold have done better attacking the south stand in the second half as his confidence seems very fragile...

Thought Lockyer was also superb in marking Akinde out of the game plus Clarke also looks a good signing. Personally I would have rewarded Ollie C with the Man of the Match performance as that was by far best he's played in recent memory.
Still not sure Sinclair was offside for his goal has surely he wasn't interfering with play when the first shot hit the post, then he didn't appear offside when the second shot rebounded to him??

Agreed. Seeing as Akinde smashed half of his teeth out last season Lockyer was up for every header and really put himself about. For that alone he was my MOM.

Very happy to see the 3-5-2 work well in a home game.Us dominating the midfield like that was such a nice change too at the mem.A comfortable win in the end, just hope that Leads is not out for a long time as that would be a massive blow. Was that the same full back who got terrorised by LDV and subbed after about 20 mins last season? If it was he certainly drew the short straw again coming up against DL's pace today and the win would probably have been bigger if he had played 90 minutes.Barnet looked the same as they did in the game here last year, slow and vulnerable at the back and if you can keep Akinde quite not much threat from elsewhere at all.#Happy days.

Barnet are too reliant on Akinde. They hoof it long to him at every opportunity. We're seeing that in league 2, Akinde cannot cope with the quality of defenders. In the Conference the defenders were easily pushed off the ball by him and clumsily tripped him (leading to his 100343904823958935825 penalties). We proved that we are far better than Barnet and would have won the title if it weren't for our poor start. Sinclair's goal was wrongly disallowed from my view in the South Stand.

Akinde has already scored 3 goals this season prior to today??
Felt today Mad dog got his tactics wrong by going 3 upfront has the strikers simply become isolated, although if their centre back hadn't missed a sitter at 1-0 they may have well grabbed a fortunate draw.

I did see Allen gesturing to his goalkeeper to stop the throwing it out and pump it long to akinde and that was in the first half. Long ball team who got found out by a good passing team. UTG

Interesting post on the Barnet forum (obviously, can't vouch for the poster):
"Conor Clifford was never a Martin Allen player. MA had no intention of signing him and strung him along. He was brought in primarily to gazump Bristol Rovers last season who were about to sign him and because he was a fresh player at a time when some of our players were showing the signs of a long season. I know this for a fact. "

Well, it worked for them (although getting a Wembley win and Lines means we did better, in the end). Didn't work very well for Clifford, though.

Yeah, it was so chaotic, it would be interesting to see that again. From where I was it looked as though there were 2 Rovers players going for the ball so there is a possibility that 1 of them was offside

"Some of the Bristol Rovers fans were chanting that we are going back to the Conference.
What a rotten bunch of spoil sports." Spoil sports? Or they are sh*t?

No just taking the urine out of a one trick pony team that fluked a title. Grow up and get over it.
