I don't use Twitter, but how can you be caught off guard when replying to a Tweet? Surly you have ample time to respond to a Tweet? Was the tweeter reporting a conversation or was it a Twitter exchange? Must admit this is the first thing Nick has said that has made me doubt the original rumours. All very odd. The Tweets are from a ITV reporter of which I can only assume he has asked NH about the situation himself and simply Tweeted what NH said. |

If true this will really spell the end of our club. Aren't these the guys that wrecked Hereford and left Swindon with a £14 million pound debt?
They are bloody asset strippers Nick. Just pick up the phone to Swindon or Hereford and you will get the full picture of these two.
July 20 - 'Heard a strong rumour that former Swindon chairman Jeremy Wray may be looking at us with a view to a prospective purchase of the club.'

The conversation is shown in speech marks so i assume it's word for word what NH said, it could well be the interview will be even played in the sports news? Not sure what to believe anymore apart from it always sounded too good to be true? |

It's as if the starting of the rumour in this way may actually end up working out for them.... We all know the sh** Higgs comes out with when he gets flustered. I'd love to know whether ITV caught him off guard or whether he actually had time to think about this ridiculous lie. I don't use Twitter, but how can you be caught off guard when replying to a Tweet? Surly you have ample time to respond to a Tweet? It's a reporter tweeting what Nick Higgs has told him. |

I'm not 100% certain but could this statement not be considered libelous? He has denied any knowledge of the consortium and you are accusing him of lying about it directly. You MAY want to consider whether its appropriate to leave this on the forum worded in this manner. I stand by my story. Think that's swayed me for now. I did believe the rumours and believed it could well be possible, even with the absence of any factual information (i.e. no smoke without fire).
But I must say that I think a couple of people have been led down the garden path (JTS and Gasincider) - either intentionally by the person/people that told them or by complete accident (e.g. their source(s) took 2 and 2 and got 5).
Gasincider - your original post is odd now that I think about it though. The opening post begins "I understand from Twitter". To me, that doesn't say "I'm ITK". The only reason that makes anyone more ITK than someone else is because they've caught sight of a public tweet that someone else hasn't yet seen - hardly ITK IMO. Funnily enough, JTS originally broke the rumour via tweet - is that your original source of this information Gasincider? (serious question, I'm not trying to be a smartass).
Further to that, there have been a couple of posts from myself (amongst others) asking for even the tiniest shred of additional evidence to back up continued belief in the rumour. Not to mention Gasincider, your remark the other day that you "were now more convinced than ever". When asked to explain why - without giving any specifics away - you still refused. That just seems really odd IMO.
Couple that with numerous "inside scoops" you've given us previously that have all been inaccurate (see Gashead Gaz post above) and I do have to wonder how good your source really is?
No offence intended, although I wouldn't blame you for taking some; I apologise - I am just losing all faith in this now. Well actually, I've lost complete faith in these rumours.
I'm sure that no one has set out to try and intentionally mislead us and I don't doubt that everyone's heart was in the right place, but I do think that Nick Higgs' latest remarks do now make continuing to believe this rumour akin to believing the various greatest conspiracy theories of our time.

As you say, I don't believe JTS would make it up and I don't believe either Gasincider or JTS would ever post some completely made up BS to get a reaction/stir-the-post just to get us talking. No offence taken Roverdrive.It's a sensible summation based on what is out there.
Whatever else NH is, he is no fool. That is why I can't explain his denial. As I say, I stand by my consortium posts, and it was NOT JTS's tweet I referred to.
Sometimes people know people on Twitter other than those on their following lists. It's also easy to have more than one account.
Suffice to say, I can't really add to what is out there. It's up to others to come out now. Keep the faith.
