Last Friday Rovers tweeted that we are due to announce a new signing, only for them to unprofessionally re-tweet saying they won't be announcing a signing?
What happened? Is this guy still singing, or did he dodge a bullett?
Only Rovers could tweet something like this, and then go back on their word!

Maybe they took a step too far regarding keeping fans informed of what's going on, but at least somebody was making an effort to communicate!

The guy that tweeted it saw the same player being shown around as James McNamara. Although it was on the Gas twitter it wasn't from Clarkes mouth, it was just a 'sighting'.

Best they say nothing............hang on.........best they.........say something but not about the club.......no, no, best say nothing. All teams have the odd no show for new player, we are not alone in this.

Dan Bradley. England C. Moved from Alfreton to Barnet 2 months ago. Got homesick. Bristol isn't close enough to Derbyshire. Turned us down.

If that is true, then good ! do we really want a player who needs to be near home to fight us out of this league ?

Our Manager said a couple of days ago we were turned down by two players we made offers too last week.

New signings seemed to have stalled. Perhaps Higgs is so confident that we will get a reprieve that he is awaiting the Wycombe outcome before deciding what type of new players we might need.

Maybe Mr Clarke cannot get an "OK" from the top at the moment................ DC claims he hasn't signed anyone because they either dont want to sign for us or want too much money. Maybe its as simple as that ?

The strategy: Sign players who want to play for the shirt and play for small wages is a difficult one.
Sounds great to us the fans, but to agents and players it must be "Good luck with that then!"
If they aren't Gasheads why would they want to play for the shirt/come to Bristol? Are we a big club even?
It looks like we're finding out the hard way that players aren't interested. Lets say Waitrose pay £9 per hour for workers, but to save money and to get harder working staff they pay £5 per hour and ask that only people who really want to work for Waitrose apply............
I'm not moaning just playing devils advocate

Quote from Chris Hargreaves, Torquay manager in todays WMN. "We are talking about £60-70k which in todays market get's you three or four good players which is incredible.

I'll feel a lot more comfortable once DC has brought in the remaining 4+ players to complete the squad and we'll know how we look heading into the season.

It seems he is having difficulty in persuading the players he wants to come here.

I'm not moaning just playing devils advocate It's difficult but not impossible... ...we need to remind players (and as importantly agents) that we have a history of taking young enthusiastic players and selling them on....and whilst most are in the dim and distant past, they should be thinking of the next big payout, rather than the one to come here... ...will we get turned down sometimes? Yes. Will we get a calibre of player who can improve the club and then move onto better things? I hope so, as that's the kind of player we want to be saying yes to us...
