I fully believe that Clarke will bring in the right players before the season starts, or if he needs to hold out, maybe a week or two into the season. It's important he gets the right players and doesn't panic and try to fill a squad with the wrong people. I know you're all saying that he should have done it by now and we will struggle, but we have no idea what setbacks Clarke has hit. He hasn't made a single successful bid for a player - I think we were all expecting us to buy some players, and not pick up free transfers. He's had his budget cut. But all credit to the guy, the five signings he has made, no one has complained about. If we give Clarke time to get the players he wants, then I'm certain we'll be happy with them.
If he doesn't then he's in the red because he said he would sign them. I'll hold my hands up and admit I was wrong if it doesn't happen, but I'm confident he will sign some more players. That's my opinion.

Fetch has a point though, we could all just be a little more patient. DC is clearly working on building his squad, he's looked at umpteen trialists and given quite a few of our youngsters a run out. He's cleared out the deadwood and signed 5 new players with another one coming in tomorrow.
He's been turned down by a couple of players (it happens to all managers) and has stated publicly that he's still looking to sign a few and will also have loan market options. We have Brunt coming back and may just yet hang on to Smudger (optimistic but it could happen).
This is clearly a work in progress and whilst it would have been ideal to have a full squad 3 weeks ago, we haven't yet but DC is getting there and I actually feel more confident about our prospects this season than last. I was not happy with John Ward's pre-season preparation and even less happy with the rubbish he was responsible for and where it ultimately led us but this season I have a sneaky suspicion DC will surprise the many doubters. (tin hat on).
We have all suffered immensely over the past few seasons and it is natural to expect the worst in order to protect yourself against more pain but let's give DC a chance to complete the process.

How about we just wait patiently, instead of panicking? Clarke's said he needs four players. He's said he wants more depth. Just wait ffs. I've never known such an impatient bunch of supporters as us Gasheads. It will come together. Yep, We have a fantastic track record of " it all coming together" eh mate. Can you blame any if us for being worried ? We are going through Groundhog Day and are making the same basic errors that put us in this crappy league.

Agreed, we have been told to do that for about the last decade. After out late run to promotion under Trolls it gave credance to another decade of faith keeping :-). Its uncertain times but the sooner we get the football underway the sooner we can see where we are.

The bloke's trying his best to get the right players in - for once we have a manager who will reject any player that doesn't show the right attitude. He wants people who want to play for the shirt, and for a positive future, not for money. It's gonna take time to find the right players, of course it is. I'm not telling people to "keep the faith it'll all be okay in the end", I'm not that naive, I just think we should trust in Clarke, because what he's trying to build is something we haven't had at the club in a long, long time.

Reject any player who doesn't show the right attitude. What does that exactly mean? Is that what all clubs do? Does that same player with the attitude that wasn't right still play football for a living?
I feel sorry for DC. He has to make excuses like that to save the face of others.

Pretty sure John Ward said very similar last summer, they all say the same thing just in different ways. I can't imagine any manager has said " Ah, any players will do , don't care how much they cost and who cares if they wanna play for the shirt"
Come on guy's they all talk the talk and we all lap it up, but after the run we've had of false dawns we'd be mad if we weren't concerned that maybe our troubles lie deeper.
As i say, the time for talk is almost over - "Let's see your product"

Because by now we would have signed our 'targets', they'd have given the 'I'm proud to join a huge club and excited to go for promotion' interview. Clarke has had numerous trialists. He has turned them down. He has turned players down, he has taken his time deciding on his targets. We have been turned down. He is trying to bring in the right players. Whether this will work, who knows. But saying it is groundhog day is not fair. Buckle had signed 10 players by now, it got us nowhere. No same basic errors at all. This is a different roll of the dice and we have no idea whether it will work.

Our chasing JJOT when we could have had, by Wards admission, 3 more players is another example.

There's still time. I am worried but I trust DC for now.
In the words of Chris Eubank, keep the face.

Me too, By all accounts we have had Nick Higgs on one side and both Bradshaw and Dunford allegedly selling assets to takeover. We have had a savage amount of redundancies that are yet to be announced and DC is trying to build a squad when he maybe does not even know how much he has to offer. I honestly believe that if we are still in this league for a third consecutive season then we go into admin. If the board are so split now then one can only imagine what they will be like when the parachute payments stops after this season. I know throwing money at the players has not worked but surely now is not the time to let a great prospect go over a couple of hundred quid ? To think we could have kept Eliot Richards and got Gow for 20K then it shows how a little investment coukd have saved us a couple of million. Worrying indeed

Worrying indeed Kingswood, i dont think thats true, Geoffs a very ill man, cant see him wanting to take over. Online rumours have stipulated that one side vetoed a new chairman ? (Colin Williams) because he wanted to bring Mike Turl back ?? Turl and williams having previously quit due to issues with GD ?

The position of Chairman was discussed but the suitable individuals did not want to take the position on
