Perhaps they need to change their pre match routine, as something is clearly wrong when we always finish far stronger than when we start. Before the season at the q+a,DC talked about his way of playing away,he said if your 0-0 at half time 65% of the time you get a positive result,so he likes to stay solid first half and go for it second half. It's been working but leads to some dull first half's,really good second half's a lot of the time. And at home??

I'm struggling to find anything positive about our club at the moment, I just don't see how it's going to get better! Ok, let's all step back a bit and have a look. Current six-game league form (the standard the bookies use) W4 D1 L1 F12 A9 PTS 13/18 Currently 12th in the League. Cannot be in the relegation zone before (*does the maths*) Boxing Day. Could be in the playoffs by the end of November. Yes it's a dip, all clubs have them. I can see loads of positives despite recent (cup) results, and if the players, the fans and DC can't see those positives we will be on a downward spiral....but we're Bristol Rovers. If you can't find any positive, are you sure you're supporting the right club???

I was in the home end tonight. Consensus is that we gave a good account of ourselves - good first 10 mins and most of the second half. Southend have a lot of belief in their keeper as a shot stopper and we had a couple of goes that could have gone in if the keeper was a tiny less agile. Regarded as unlucky with the disallowed goal "What?, never seen that before". They were scared of our counter attacks, me less so for the reasons discussed above. Perhaps we held the ball in the defence too long which gave them a couple of opportunities to snatch something. Lines's distribution from set pieces was admired (but no one could put it in).
Conclusion - we looked like a side that should be challenging for play-offs (not me, the locals).
Met some of the team on the way out. They made time to chat but looking for reassurance over their performance tbh. One player said they couldn't explain why the performance at the Mem was so weak (bad luck?) and claimed they didn't pick up any negativity (believe that if you will). It seemed to me that confidence has taken a knock (after Chesham etc) but overall they did enough to equal most league 2 sides tonight and Southend were relieved with the narrow win.

Good to hear some positive feedback on what was, on the face of it, not an unexpected result against a team a league above us. Sounds like we were unlucky not to have forced it to extra time at least and I find all this negativity quite ridiculous. 13pts from our last league 6 games. The boys will be pumped up for Saturday and I fancy us to get back on the winning trail at home.

How many did Taylor score? Any chance we could have a crack at Easter as well, given he's likely on twice the money and turning out to be a complete spud. Got to be time to give Lucas a full game surely. If he doesn't score then we're no worse off than we are now.

The referee was a Homer and seemed easily influenced by the home team and their crowd and was booking us but not them for very similar things,An extremely confusing decision was given when Bodin scored and there was no linesmans flag and the ref pointed to the centre circle, our supporters celebrated then a good 90 seconds later the southend players surrounded the ref complaining, The ref consults with the lino and the goal was disallowed to the amusement of the southend fans and the embarrassment of our fans. a determined Rovers were unlucky on the night and all in all continue to play well away from home,A tall striker is a must and should be a matter of priority if D.C. hopes to finish in the top 7.Lucas might be that striker but was brought on too late to make a judgement on him,Montana should start on saturday over Gosling,Parkes looks very unfit and slow,Lines and Brown wont tackle and for me Lines does not put the effort in,no one shone or stoodout for us but we were organised and giving 100% effort and 2nd half we were the better team.

"Southend have a lot of belief in their keeper as a shot stopper" - if only we had the same belief in our keeper who seems to make few difficult saves. The GK situation needs addressing as confidence in the keeper is vital for the team as a whole.

Surely it'll be addressed next month when Nicholl's loan period expires, either he'll then return in January or DC will have to find another one, assuming Puddy remains injured. Although Nicholls as been reliable away from the Mem.
