By the laws of football it was rightly given offside, however ridiculous that rule is. well the keeper wouldnt be sure that taylor wasnt going to deflect the ball so the ref got it right but curios that the linesman didnt flag???

The trouble is, it's one of those decisions that requires a bit of knowledge from both parties. The ref, if it's close, can never be certain whether the bloke is in an offside position, and the linesman, often, can't be certain whether he's interfering.

Plus you sense if the Serfend players hadn't protested the ref would have awarded the goal!

On the highlights at 17 seconds, Southends No 10 appears to be offside in front of Nichols, of course can't see across the pitch, but he must distract Nichols.

Pretty ridiculous that Taylor was in such an offside position. Seriously. That what happens with poor players. They make poor decisions. What the hell he was doing there was beyond belief. He has cost us again. Yet people still rate him. Mind you, he does run around a bit. Not the same quality footballer as you probably - oh well.
