That shows how clueless Clarke is. Puddy is not good enough. Agree with the second bit, how Puddy is rated better than Mildenhall is beyond me. maybe it cost us more in wages if Mildy gets an appearance? I'm guessing, but this is not about football The clueless one has told one keeper that he doesnt want him, another keeper that he is not in his plans. And a keeper that isnt very good that he will be number 1. The not very good one has not played for ages. You couldnt sodding bloody well make it up.

Puddy was marginally better than Mildenhall towards the end of the season, but after over 6 months it's expecting alot for even a goalie to come straight back into the side. Let's be honest is Puddy anymore likely to save the long range shots Nicholls is struggling with at present given his lack of height, even if his positioning is hopefully a bit better?

Puddy was playing with an injury last season and still did OK. Mildy is past it now, he hasn't aged well. People remember the keeper he was, not the keeper he has become.

Is that the same clueless one that has given us our best ever start in league 2 and on probably the smallest ever budget we have had in league 2? His hands are tied, yet we are still doing better than ever in this awful league.

This hasn't come up onus out of the BLUE So why start the season with loan keeper's (very poor ones) and a man on the bench you don't want in your team expecting him to be interested in playing for us after being publicly rebuffed by the management

Hind sight is a wonderful thing, he looked a good signing, rave reviews at this level before and should have been better than most in this league. You can sign a permanent keeper and he might lose form the same. You can see why he went for him, most said it was a good signing and Northampton fans said he was good. Anyone can moan on here after and say he's rubbish, did you say that at the time???

The mistake was not signing a new keeper in the summer. I thought we needed a new keeper so did many others so why wait a few weeks into the season and then decide to drop Mildenhall?! It has been a total cock up.

Have to agree the Eastleigh & Halifax games last season suggested Mildenhall had lost his edge, surely after a couple of pre-season games DC would have known his form hadn't returned, and also knew at that point Puddy was not going to be fit for some time.
Personally I don't feel a combination of Mildenhall & even a fit Puddy is good enough for Div 2, as we seemed to be stuck with Mildenhall for this season then we should have really just offered Puddy a month to month contract until he was fit and recruited a new No 1.
The big question now is what does DC do for December, play a semi fit Puddy and risk destroying his confidence if he makes mistakes, turns to Mildenhall or goes for yet another loanee goalie?

We can't get another loanee goalie as the window is now closed. That's what I mean we are now left with an out of favour Mildy or Puddy who still isn't back from injury!

Can't we still get emergency loan goalies? But I assume that would only apply if Puddy's still out injured?

At Plymouth he made a great save to contribute towards a point. With regards to Puddy being lucky. It's better to be a "lucky" keeper than a "good" one. There is something unorthodox with Puds- but he was a keeper during a very successful period for rovers and deserves ago at being number 1.

I think you are also allowed a reserve keeper as didn't another club's fans give us some stick last season, when we got in Spies (another dodgy keeper!) from Notts C even though Preston was on the books?

Must admit I've never been sure about Puddy. Don't think he is long term answer. Chapman looks the part I reckon but obviously isn't ours so a bit academic!

It has been a total main sail up. Hardly a few weeks. We played one league game with Mildenhall, signed Chapman in time for the Yeovil game and I'm pretty sure Mildy was told on the same day that he had no future at the club.We can all look back and say we needed a keeper but if we couldn't get rid of Mildy then it was never going to happen. Think Puddy gets a lot of unnecessary stick due to his height. Did his job last season and played a part in getting us promoted. At least deserves the chance at this level.

According to the OF DC has said at the Q&A Nicholls is not good enough and will leave and not return once his loan spell expires in early December. I was told earlier today that he won't be starting Saturday. He starts
