He was replaced as DC thought Nicholls was a better option. Signing him again would be a bit odd wouldn't it? Not if Puddy is still injured and Mildenhall is still out of favour. DC has said that Nicholls is off on 12th Dec. I don't think he did too badly, when he was with us at the start of the Season. I'm only repeating what I was told from a very reliable source... Reliable source being someone talking crap on facebook

I thought a club could sign a goalie on emergency loan if they are down to one fit goalie, just like we did with Spies last season?

Absolutely sickening watching that. We really should have had them beaten by half time and for them to score such a cheap goal so deep into added time was gutting. After having a goal disallowed (impossible to say from where we were yesterday but looks like the right decision albeit a very fine margin) and then hitting the crossbar twice it always felt like lady luck was in Exeter's corner and thus it was. You can break the game down as much as you like but no one that was there can dispute that we were the better team and deserved to win it so that's always going to hurt but I think we should take some serious positives from the performance. On another day both Gaffney and Taylor would have scored and we now look much more balanced with the little and large combination upfront. Only real negatives I took away were Nicholls confidence (it's been said on here both in jest and straight-faced that his eyesight is questionable, personally I think there might be something wrong with his depth perception, I lost count of the number of times he looked to move forward when balls were clearly dropping outside of his area or simply unobtainable), J. Clarke's concentration and Easter (and to a certain extent Harrison) offering less than nothing when he came on. As has been said elsewhere, we look like a team with real potential and it's easy to forget where we were last season. DC and 95% of the squad deserve a chance to build on what they've achieved so far, even if we fall short of the play-offs this season. Think you are being harsh on Nicholls. Whilst I haven't been convinced by him, I thought he did ok yesterday in difficult conditions. I'm not sure I was "harsh". He did do ok, arguably could have been better positioned for the goal but it was scuffed straight into the bottom corner so I didn't blame him for that. Parks could have done better for the goal as well but overall he had a very good game so he wasn't mentioned. I maintain that Nicholls is badly lacking in confidence and I can bring to mind at least one shot hit straight at him (although it was moving somewhat, largely due to said difficult conditions) which he punch/parried into a dangerous area and given our fortunes of late it could have cost us. I think his confidence is an issue and as he's still a relatively young, relatively inexperienced keeper I think it affects his play. Not convinced that's in anyway harsh.

I've seen all his home performances and one away and going by that he's the worst keeper I've seen in my 30 years supporting Rovers. He seems to concede more shots than he saves to me. I'd be happy if we could go out and buy Chapman in January. We need a keeper who is our number 1 and preferably on the books too but if not then anyone except Nichols even a past his best over the hill Mildy would be better right now.

I think that is harsh on Nicholls. He's let in some long range shots I'd expect him to keep out but worst ever - how about Luke Daniels and Sam Walker. Walker for me is the worst keeper I've ever seen in a Rovers shirt.

A top keeper would have struggled. Nichols has managed to concede goals left right and center where Mildenhall puddy and chapman looked as solid and assured as their defense with only the odd mistake here and there that can happen to any keeper. It's all about opinions of course but Nichols looks lacking in ability , reflexes , positioning, confidence and pretty much everything to me.

Neil Etheridge played behind the same defence as Walker and he did very well. I personally think Nicholls is raw as a keeper but has shown some good signs - including yesterday where he did well in tricky conditions. I'm not claiming he's as good as Nigel Martyn but he's been ok on the whole. I've also got little faith in Mildy who towards the end of last season looked completely out of his depth. However the debate about Nicholls is almost over. I'm getting more concerned with whoever takes over.

Like the look of Gaffney from those highlights.
Strong, neat touch, brought others into play, unlucky with a good header, not afraid to shoot, and a bit of pace about him too.
Looking forward to seeing him tomorrow.

To suggest that is utter nonsence, since his knee injury last season Mildenhall's played like a rabbit caught in a car's headlights spending most of his time rooted to the goal line plus his diistribution's shocking as well. In addition our central defence has struggled this season hence why Parkes & McM keep getting dropped.

Think someone said in another thread that he reminds them of Richard Walker, and that's who immediately sprung to my mind when I first watched the highlights. Seems quite similar in style to him, but maybe a bit more pace?
