I'm a York fan, and will be coming down for the game out of pure obsession and madness on Saturday expecting one thing, and absolutely one thing only. Another miserable defeat.
I know exactly why some of you point this out as a potential banana skin and on paper, absolutely, but I really would rest assure you that you are coming up against a side which compromises of several young loanees who are simply out of their depth at this level. For one reason or another, Jackie McNamara thought it was totally acceptable to freeze out practically our entire experienced spine to our side and replaced them with loanees who obviously don't care about the future of our club, instead just gaining first team football at our League status' expense. Jackie inherited one hell of a poor side to be fair, and there certainly were 'experienced pros' at the club who I would have told to sling their hook and never come back, but it seems he has taken it to the extreme. Personally, I think he can't quite believe how poor a side he has really been left with and he has therefore acted out of panic.
At Portsmouth the other week, we played with a 19 year old centre half who had played just one senior match, and a 20 year old centre half who has played half a dozen games maximum. And that's exactly why we conceded 11 goals in the two matches since, with two new, young fullbacks brought into play either side also. Our clubman of the year for two seasons running, Keith Lowe, was yesterday released from the club and for all I agree he has been off the mark this season, I am around 90% certain that with him and one of our other experienced centre halves (ie Dave Winfield), we would still have lost both games, but no way would we have lost by such heavy margins.
We are very much sleepwalking our way back into the Conference, something I never thought I would quite have to come to terms with so soon after ending eight years of misery in the Non-League wilderness back in May 2012. But having been to every game so far this season, there really is nothing to suggest why we will dig ourselves out of this mess, and absolutely nothing to suggest why we will suddenly come to your place and nick a result after eight straight defeats. Even the most loyal of York fans are becoming fed up and disillusioned now, but I would still expect there to be at least 150 of us there on Saturday.
3-1 to you Gasheads, Vadaine Oliver with our consolation midway through the second half.

This all sounds similar to Kidderminster before we played them last season and they now find themselves struggling at the bottom of the Conference, although I thought York had plans for a new stadium rather than years stuck in the non league wilderness again?

This all sounds similar to Kidderminster before we played them last season and they now find themselves struggling at the bottom of the Conference, although I thought York had plans for a new stadium rather than years stuck in the non league wilderness again? That's correct, in fact when the fixtures were announced back in June there was one eye on who our last home game would be against as this was supposed to be our final season at Bootham Crescent. Obviously, that game happens to be against yourselves, though as per usual the whole project has been delayed once again and it was looking likely to be sometime in the middle of next season, only to find it has been pushed back yet again and we will probably spend the whole of next season at Bootham, if not even longer. The whole discussion for a new ground started well over twelve years ago, and despite planning permission being granted several times, it's one of those "I'll believe it when I ever see it". I believe work has finally been started on the site where the ground is meant to be, though by this I mean they have just dug a few holes and are in the process of knocking down the old athletics/rugby stadium which stood previously. It won't be long until we are told that work must stop due to some newts being found or whatever other hold-up they can think of no doubt. i fear that with all the constant delays and hold-ups in building the stadium, relegation could throw a major spanner into the works. The council do not seem keen whatsoever in building the stadium it seems, and sometimes it feels as if they would do anything to get rid of the two professional sports clubs in the city (York City Knights Rugby League being the second) as they see it as more of a hindrance, and would rather focus on the tourist industry instead.

We know the feeling Aye, I thought so. What is the position with your new stadium? It seems like yours has dragged on for a very long time as well.

All that is wrong with Rovers fans! A negative opening post followed by thoughts that we might lose to a team second from bottom! Do people go expecting the worst? I will go expecting a comfortable home win and look forward to more goals! We should be excited not apprehensive!!! Where's Rich and his bus! He wouldn't have this kind of attitude!!! You got 7 likes for this. We rarely thump the worst teams we come up against. We have already made a mess of a couple of bankers and history shows that it's often the case. York will know this. Nothing wrong with going thinking we are going to win comfortably but posts on here won't dictate a result.
