Just Googled Pericles & Shakespeare, and Prince of Tyre came up. I've heard of Pericles before, but The Prince Of Tyre is a first for me. Am I thick, or, is it an obscure play? Clay is loosely based on king claudius,Gemma based on queen gertrude, jax is of course Did you also know the shows writer played Otto in sons and is married to gemma in real life (i know sad bastard aint i) I did actually know that, also Gemma is the voice of Layla in Futurama. I was watching season 3 and googled Sons Of Anarchy, it came up Jax was deceased...... Dohhhhhh!!!! So was just waiting for it to happen!

There was talk of a Sons film, with Brad Pitt playing Jaxs dad, but Kurt Sucker has said that is bs. Imo the last season was the best. I wont give any spoilers apart from you know Jax dies.

The Walking Dead returns after its mid season break tonight on Fox.Watched it earlier and it is a cracking episode. Just looked through the thread and have to agree with gasheadgaz on Prison Break which was brilliant for the first two seasons but sadly went stupid for the last two seasons. The Blacklist for me is the best thing on tv and has been for a few years now closely followed by Homeland. Almost forgot to mention Fargo both seasons were superb with some great writing and acting. Interesting. Out of curiosity, do you ever post anything to do with Bristol Rovers Football Club?. Just asking like.

It's not "seasons". It's "series". We're not (yet) American.
And Fargo, "series" 1 and 2 was brilliant.

Forgot to mention deutschland 83 was a cracker of a series, many yung uns who watched it will think it was far fetched ,but we really did come that close to War on several occasions Really enjoyed it, not usually keen on following the plot via subtitles, but this series was worth it - was amazed to discover that I still remembered some German from my schooldays. I'm currently on season 4 of The West Wing, and dabbling with The Blacklist.

Slightly less serious but still very good if you like all the WhiteHouse stuff.

Certainly took me back in time as the whole of the world was incredibly paranoid, quite clever how they worked aids and other stuff into the storyline, as that made for a more realistic view, need something else now to go from there to the collapse of the ussr.

If you're at season 4 you're fine to get all the way through to the end of season 7. Just don't try to compare it to real world US politics at the moment....

I'm afraid I don't watch Netflix, or any of the online streaming stuff now. I just don't have the time to watch very much. You don`t know how lucky you are, Nobby. When I lived and worked in Germany, all we had was BFBS. Everything was miles behind. I remember watching Coronation Street in 1979, and Albert Tatlock had just left school.

I'm not usually into the political dramas, but have got right in to it. Think Kevin Spacey is excellent in it, and that reporter who he's leaking stuff to is absolutely gorgeous.

Didn't like the people in SoA. No one really likeable. Breaking Bad was just a ridiculous premise and I found it impossible not to keep thinking "a normal person would not do that" Real life is full of people doing things just as "ridiculous" as Walter White. I know it`s all about opinions, but to me, The Sopranos and Breaking Bad were the best two shows on the telly. Ever. And Better Call Saul, is pretty good too.

One of my tele watching problems is that I work shifts. If it's 2pm till 10pm, or 4pm till midnight shift, then that's telly out of the question. If the shift is 6am till 2pm, then I'm in bed early to be able to get up early ! The other shift is what we call 'Flexi shift' which is your basic 8am till 4pm. So each month, there are probably only two weeks where I am on Flexi Shift!

The modern equivalent of BFBS is Forces TV............It's on the Sky Box somewhere. PS - When you served, how did you keep your powder dry when it rained?

Has anyone got any recommendations of something decent to watch on the tele? I've been watching "The Curse of Oak Island". I must admit that this story has fascinated me for about thirty years since I first read about it, but the tv series on the History Channel has been absolute sh1t ! How about the Adam Johnson court case? That`s been good. When it started, his girlfriend used to walk into court right next to him. But as the case progressed, she`s got further and further away. Shame the tv cameras weren`t there, when he tried to explain to her how a photo of his arse came to be on his mobile phone. Would have paid the Sky subscription, to have seen that.
