For me, you usually get 5 games a year where either the team doesnt turn up (twice so far this year, the other being Newport at home)and when you batter another team and they somehow get a draw or nick a win. Well this was one of the other we didnt turn up games.
Since Lawrence has arrived, the form has dipped, the games I have seen he has been awful and has added no improvement to the squad. Mansell too has been off the boil and both need to be dropped for the next game. Linesy needs a run of games and maybe go back to 352 with him and Sincs or Clarke in the middle for a bit.
Gaffney I thought did ok saturday, was so unlucky to hit the bar, should have equalised, and that defo changed the game. Easter lacked service and started to drop deeper to get some, that the stifled any attack we could then make as 442 relies upon having 2 men up top constantly.
We could have been talking about a 2-2 draw rather than a defeat had Gaffney scored. That said, we deserved nothing from the game and we deserved to lose without question. This was a team defeat and everyone was culpable except Mildy. However, we havent lost many this season or for that matter, been totally outplayed so willing to forget this one and onwards and upwards for next week.
DC needs to have a good look at his tactics and whether Lawrence is good enough to push us where we need to be as IMO trying to accomodate and aging set of legs and someone who is no longer a winger and not as good a CM as we currently have has cost us points.

What watered me off more about him than anything was his constant shouting at his team mates and blaming them all the time. He's been at the club 5 minutes and he was strutting about in the middle like he owned the place blaming his teammates but not contributing anything to our performance. I've only seen him play twice but from what I've seen so far I don't like him.

It can't be right to play people out of position - i.e. Mansell on Saturday, in order to put him in the team. However, let's try not to judge too soon - perhaps he just needs a few games to get up to speed and be the creative midfielder we all know we need. If he doesn't quickly get it right though, DC must not risk the team spirit by accommodating him at all costs.

One thing this debacle has surely put to bed is the Mildenhall is not good enough threads we have seen all season. Would suggest Saturdays performance highlighted the areas where we are simply not good enough and goalkeeper is not one of them! Judging players on one game is always a good idea. Certainly not judging Mildenhall on just one game and as for the others, if you can't see that the lack of a creative midfielder has been apparent all season then you have been watching a different team to me. All our midfielders are one of the same and I include Lines in that as he has hardly set an example to the likes of Sinclair,Mansell, Ollie Clarke etc on how to drive through midfield. Lawrence has obviously been brought in to fill that role but although it is early days he has hardly set the supporters pulses racing and it may well be as many have mentioned that his legs and best days have long gone. After all Shrewsbury don't appear to be missing him and I would suggest were quite happy to get him off their payroll. Whether we like it or not we surely have to accept that the likes of Northamptons midfield is light years ahead of us and I include Otoole in that, still scoring goals like he did with us from midfield, getting in time and time again on crosses to the back stick, something our midfielders never do, due to a lack of any pace whatsoever.

Problem with most of us we write players off far too soon, before Mildenhall returned to the side he'd been written off as past it, now he's saved us a real hammering, the save late on with his fist was outstanding. Lawrence hasn't played one game at the Mem yet, once he's played a couple there if he's still poor then we have to accept that he was a poor signing, whilst Shrewsbury might not be missing him he was playing regularly for them before his transfer.
As regards to Northampton they are an established Div 2 side who've had £10m+ pumped into the club somewhere so it's hardly a fair comparison. We're miles ahead of Luton who probably have a bigger budget and have also had a spell in the Conference.

Lawrence seems to be in the team on reputation alone at the moment. Im not writing him off at all, but on the evidence of the 2 games I have seen, both games he has been off the pace, passed poorly and had no vision. And is worse than Lines and Clarke. On that basis, he doesnt deserve to be in the team.
What annoys me more is we play people out of position to accommodate him, which is something that McGhee and Ward did to play Dave Clarkson, he was played left or right wing most of the time when the bloke was predominantly a CAM or CF. It irritates me when managers play players out of position when there is adequate and capable cover for a position. Especially when the player they accommodate plays as poorly as Lawrence has done. As a result it imbalances the whole team and with that the unity that goes with it.
We need to stick to our formation, play the correct players with the correct shape and adjust as the game goes. That is why we lost on saturday and no other reason.

Twice he has changed the team to accommodate Lawrence, who without any doubt is the slowest player in the squad. God (or DC knows) why we signed him.

You don't get faster as you get older, you get slower. It's a rule of nature

By getting up to speed, I didn't mean simply pace - I meant getting used to the team, the way of playing, the players around him etc., etc.
I am worried though that his arrival may have caused some disruption to the team and team spirit. If DC plays him then it must not be at the expense of someone else playing out of position.
Let's hope, if selected, he finds his feet in the next couple of games and really starts to run games for us as I'm sure was the hope that DC had when he brought him in.

Yeah especially our captain and midfield general Lee Mansell out on the left wing.
