You'll see at least 1 scoot parked down by the away fans each game if not three or four. A fair few of us have scoots. And stand together. UTG. Keep the faith

I had a 1960 Lambretta Li 150 Series 2 which gave me the freedom to go to Eastville, with my 5 year old brother strapped to the back rest ( from Frome) Before this I went on the train and always had to leave 15 minutes early to catch the train home. With a wait at TM and Westbury, then a 2 mile walk it was always 9 ish before I got home. My Mum and Dad had an insurance policy come out on my 16th birthday a total of £180. Dad took me to Bristol on the train and I cannot remember where but we went to a motorcycle / scooter shop and he bought me the Lambretta. He wanted me to get a Vespa as he had one he used to go to work on, but the Lambo was blue and white, and it had a spare wheel rack and a backrest, so it was no contest. I really wanted a series 3, but I knew how lucky I was to be given all that money to buy what I wanted. Now some 46 years later I have bought a blue and white series 3 scooter, just to bring back a few memories. Hopefully I will get it to the Mem when it is warmer!! I will never forget the day my provisional licence arrived, a day that will always be with me.

The thing is it was the most unreliable piece of sh1t ever made. It use to rattle and shake so much that I had to tighten everything up at least once a week or bits would literally fall off as I rode along. The evil b@stard used to break down every week and I reckon I pushed it as far as I rode it. My mate had an earlier TV200 and that was even worse! After about 18 months I traded it in for a new Suzuki 350 twin. What a difference. Smooth, quiet, arm- wrenching acceleration and total reliability. I got £80 quid on trade in, I reckon that if the pile of crap was still alive it would be worth about £5k. Unbelievable! The Lambrettas do look classy and cool and I often go on the Lambretta Club GB website where they have every model ever made and all the facts and figures. I enjoy browsing through but I don't think I'd want the hassle of owning one. itself to

I had a Vespa 150S. The bloke I bought it off got me to try it in his garden, I crashed straight through his garden fence, across the neighbour's lawn and straight through his fence as well. Too embarrassed not to buy it after that. It was bright yellow so I thought I would paint it with black stripes after Slim Harpo's "I'm a King Bee". Being completely impractical I painted the black straight on top of the yellow, I used to ride along in a snowstorm of black paint flakes.

Another mate had a Vespa SS180. Not as stylish or fast as the Lambrettas, but always started and ran flawlessly. Whenever we were on a ride-out he'd have to keep turning round to find the rest of us as one of the Lambrettas would inevitably break down. The 150's seemed OK, but the 200's were just bored out 150 barrels and the engine, frame and running parts couldn't handle the extra power and heat. Happy days though and all part of growing up.

What is a scooterist? Is it a sexual offence? No, me and my mates were scooter'ists years ago. Couldn't wait for the muppets to come on so we could catch a glimpse of him..

and what happened to the "Rovers scooter" that was displayed at the ground, about 10 years ago? I got sent a copy of Scootering magazine a while back by a Gashead who was editor of the magazine, as it was the edition which featured the Rovers scoot. I used to have a Vespa which unfortunately got written off by a car, but I'm still into the Mod scene just minus a scooter! Thanks for the promotion ...that was myself. Still working there now, don't get back to Bristol very often but intend to be at Notts County and York
