From the players I've watched Jim Eadie Lyndsey Parsons Vaughan Jones Frankie Prince Stuart Taylor Alan Ball David Mehew Mickey Barrett Alan Warboys Rickie Lambert Kenny Stephens Subs Bruce Bannister Paul Randall Dave Staniforth Lee Brown Nigel Martyn Jamie Cureton Ian Holloway Manager Don Megson / DC Without doubt the best all round choice posted. Although I would make one change and replace the 1966 world cup hero Alan Ball with Vitalijs Astafjevs.

Virtually an impossible task, missed out loads of players. A top fifty of all time may well have been the way to go. By the way saw all my selection play.

Biggs, Bradford and Stewart, now that would have been a great attack with Harold and George to provide the bullets. Would have been worth paying 4/6d (22.5 pence in today's money!!!) UTG!

Watched the Gas regularly from '87 - '95 then occasionally from '06 to present day, so not a huge amount of choice. I'll go with:
GK: Nigel Martyn RB: Michael Smith LB: Vaughan Jones CB: Steve Yates CB: Steve Elliott LM: Mustapha Carayol CM: Ian Holloway CM: Stuart Campbell RM: David Mehew CF: Rickie Lambert CF: Marcus Stewart
Subs: Brian Parkin, Tom Lockyer, Lee Brown, Gary Waddock, Marcus Browning, Devon White, Dennis Bailey
I was tempted by putting Waddock or Browning in the centre. We have struggled for genuine creativity in the centre of the park when I have seen the Gas, but accepting we would play a direct style of football a la Gerry's era, I figured that Campbell and Holloway would provide the industry in the middle of the park, collecting the scraps and getting the ball out to Muzzy. Plenty of goals in this side, with Mehew getting up in support of Rickie and Stewy. Of the current crop I considered Lockyer, but I needed a brute of a centre back to play alongside the class of Yates, so Elliott got the nod. I was so tempted to put Dennis Bailey in there, but with Muzzy one side, I needed someone to play more compact on the other side, and Mehew gave goals as well. Bailey is a great option off the bench as he could play wing or up front. This team would have made it pretty close to the premiership, in my view.
