I'd agree Lines over Lawrence but that's not saying much.

Lines was very good yesterday. Good range of passing. Kept it simple which was a must in the conditions and made some good runs as well. I don't see what more he could of done or what people actually expect of Lines. He's a L2/L1 footballer at best. Yes he is inconsistent but so are a lot of our squad. That's what you get at this level.
Lawrence was better than he has been yesterday and I see what DC is trying to do with him now. He's trying to get him to play the role Monhouse played. Let Browner do the running and he can tuck in. Thought Lawrence was awful first half. Backed out of challenges. Couldn't pass to another one of ours for toffee but grew into the game and played a vital role in the second goal. I hope he carries on the improvement.

I think you'd have to be kidding yourself to say anybody was particularly good yesterday, Morecambe were dreadful second half yesterday and we were even worse first half. Hopefully just a case of the conditions causing a terrible match.

I did notice once in the first half that Gaff and Leads lost the ball between them, iirc, and Lawrence legged it back 80 yards with the play and eventually won the ball back. Wouldn't have been that remarkable if Manse or Sincs had done it, but I was pleased to see Lawrence putting it in.

Definitely the right call to bring Billybob on when he did, Leads was struggling to get forward enough early on and Gaffers was getting dragged out wide quite a bit because there was no one out there, fair play to DC for spotting it and making a big change like that early on, a very good attribute I think our manager has is identifying a problem and changing tactics to right the wrong. Wasn't really impressed with either Lines or Lawrence tbh but will give them the benefit of the doubt because of the conditions. We shouldn't be making excuses for well paid professionals based on the conditions. This is England and those conditions are par for this time of year. The only way I would give any player a benefit of doubt would be if they had an off game for an unknown reason. When did Lines last put in a row of decent games? To be honest I was saying exactly the same as you after the game, Lawrence may get a bit more slack because he's new to the team, and is taking a bit of time to get used to playing with us but Lines has been here a long time again is and like you say hasn't really done enough, one thing is for sure, if we want to go up then one or both of them need to improve and bring a bit of consistency to their game.

Once we switched to 442 Lawrence looked far more comfortable.
