Wombles forced double substitution due to injury Did anyone see what happened to either player...the challenge that stopped play on the halfway line looked pretty innocuous and didn't see what happened to their guy who was closer to our goal. Pretty good given my biggest criticism was that he needs to get some proper shinpads and probably get some time on a sunbed.... Great result. Wimbledon look a very good side and apart from some superb saves from Mildenhall it could have been a different story. They looked so dangerous from set pieces. Thought Rigg was outstanding first half. Faded in the second half but glad to see him doing well after some tough injuries. Hard to pick our man of the match. Easter was good first half as was Ollie Clarke. Lines was also very good tonight and Matty seems to have found form again at just the right time. Mildenhall was probably man of the match when you consider the saves he made and the times he made them. Was stood right behind one in the second half that looked in until he somehow got his right hand down to it...At the start the rest of them looked like they had never met each other before, let alone played together...but they pulled it together...Lines was great both on and off the ball, Matty looks like he's got his confidence back and Easter....well, I've been very critical of him in the past....this was the first game I've seen him play in a while where he's looked interested....and that's not damning him with faint praise because when he looks interested he's a great player. Got to say i thought the Dons were a real handful tonight. You can see why they have been on such a good run. They have a well balanced team, very strong spine and broke with real pace, nearly all their crosses and corners were dangerous. At 2-1 i could only see them scoring again and we withstood their pressure very well with some good saves from mildy and a couple of superb blocks from our defence. Phew....What a win that was. After the first 20 minutes if I had to bet my life on one side being 2-0 up at half-time it would not have been Rovers. We looked second best for a big chunk of the start of the game. I didn't spot any tactical changes by DC, probably just yelling at the players that caused them to step up and start playing. Even the ref had a good game tonight. I love refs that let it flow. The linesman near the blackthorn was a bit iffy though. I thought the linesman in the Blackthorn/Dribuild corner was so bad he made the ref look bad. So often there was a challenge 5-10 yards from him where he had to look to the ref (who was 40 yards away) before deciding who touched it last. The second corner after McBurnie came on he missed the blatant bearhug from the defender when we all had the same view of it....

Just returned home after the £75 win. Wimbledon were possibly the best team to visit the mem this season bar a superb performance from milds and a welcome return to form from Parkes a draw would have been fair. I hope I haven't just spent my Wembley ticket. Top 3 gas. Can't stand (but love) or afford another Wembley trip.

Anyone know what the beast said? Cracking win by the way against a very difficult side. UTG I don't know what he said but every time he touched the ball he seemed to have a free kick awarded against him he seems to think that just because he is big and strong that the rules allow him to physically shuv players away from him / the ball. he made his own bed...

Am I the only one who thought our back 3 deserve some praise?
considering the pressure Dons put on us, and the pace and power they had, i thought Locks, Clarkey (J) and Parksey all had excellent games, especially Parkes.
AND if you think the Dons attack was quite impressive... and also think ours was... then the difference between the teams were the defences. Theirs was very dodgy.

After an opening where we rarely seemed to touch the ball I was confident we would win well.
For a start they hadn't scored and a team that starts so strongly but hasn't made the most of it often pays. Their decision th throw so many people forward quickly suited us and played into the hands of Matty and Jermaine as they had space rather than being crowded out. Similarly Linesy had space to run into.
our defence seems to be stronger when we are under siege and certain players seemed to up their game in response to Wimbledon.
After about 5 mins Linesy went forward and went down and thought he should have had a foul. He slowly got up and seemed to saunter back. 20 minutes later he was jumping straight up and running back to cover in similar circumstances and I am sure that was in direct response to their midfield putting a shift in

Tactics spot on from DC tonight. Nice to hear some praise when he gets it right. Well done DC and the boys in what was a hard fought win. Onwards and upwards.

Possession wise they were good but didn't create much first half and we should've been out of sight,FairPlay to mr mildenhall I was in the get him off the wage bill camp but thought last night he was class,he done what he's paid to do and very well We wouldn't of had our Wembley trip last season if he was in this form, cheers mildly

Not even the cleverest monkey can climb 2 trees at once. We had 2 early 1-on-1's, so yes we could have been ahead early doors but we weren't. I think he's right that when u get a ref who clearly won't give fouls or yellows for anything less than a decapitation, players need to adapt and get stuck in. Brilliant advert for lge 2.

Yeah, as well as they played, and however much they dominated the first 20, and most of the second half, in a way they played right into our hands, or rather, we were set up in exactly the right way to take advantage of their style. And I doubt that was just a lucky coincidence.

Decent write-up from a Womble: sw19army.com/?p=8594...Like ourselves, they need a new ground and quick. The trouble is that they are in an uber-residential area, far more than NPL is. You only have to look at the amount of cyclists around to get an idea what sort of area it is. Or as us motorists refer to them, ten points each. Brizzle Rovers are one of those clubs that are always “there” in the lower reaches of the Football League, although going down and then coming back up rebooted their club. I prefer them to Brizzle City, although I’m not sure who Irene is and why plenty want to wish her goodnight. One assumes she’s the local broad. Their PA sounded like the Tandy knockoff I imagine you get at a West Country county fayre. It was difficult to work out whether we were making a sub or there was a marrow growing competition in the car park…

Brizzle Rovers are one of those clubs that are always “there” in the lower reaches of the Football League, although going down and then coming back up rebooted their club. Really like that. Bristol Rovers v2.0 (or probably v11.12 or something if anyone can be bothered to work it out) Am I the only one who thought our back 3 deserve some praise? considering the pressure Dons put on us, and the pace and power they had, i thought Locks, Clarkey (J) and Parksey all had excellent games, especially Parkes. AND if you think the Dons attack was quite impressive... and also think ours was... then the difference between the teams were the defences. Theirs was very dodgy. To be fair for most of the first 27 minutes (even with our chances) it felt like we were being over-run.....so yes the back 3/5 deserve the praise because whilst the Dons looked awesome in the middle-third, not much got anywhere near the box.
