Bristol temple meads is older than Manchester Piccadilly.. However, Piccadilly handles over twice as many passengers per annum. Hmmm same number of platforms yet twice as many passengers....What does George have to say about this?

What is the soul of the club exactly? Being a bunch of Gypsies, tramps and thieves? Being a rag bag, tinpot outfit? I've never understood these terms like "Losing the soul" and "Plastic" which are only ever used by football fans. We are the soul of the club. I don't consider any of us gypsies, tramps, thieves, rag bag or tin pot. But you can lose a certain something when money appears. I can see what you mean. The fans at the moment are the original die-hards. We have stuck with the club through some dreadful sh1t, yet there are 5 - 6 thousand who stuck with the club, refusing to become long distance supporters of the usual suspects in the Premier League. It it is a different story over at the open sewer. When they were struggling they were getting maybe 3 thousand in what, even all those years ago was a far better stadium. Now they sell their 12thousand ST's, but if they dropped down the leagues those numbers would evaporate and we would all see how many true fans they really have. If we get the new stadium and the team continues to be successful then our fans will increase, and inevitably there will be people at the ground who would not be true supporters per se, and may be more likely to accept gimmickry. I don't think Wael is a flash, gimmicky person, not his style, but if the commercial advertising types get involved, you know, brand development etc, a bit like Bristol Sport franchise crap, we might see this corporate identity nonsense developing. success comes with a price I'm afraid, but one we will have to accept.

There are a few youngsters getting the Gas bug because they are introduced (or indoctrinated!) by existing fans. For example my 10 year old boy. We live in Portishead, traditional Somerset Sh1thead territory. A few of the kids in his year are City, but a lot are plastics for Prem teams. So you have hit the nail, which I failed to do, in that youngsters will gravitate towards the Gas if we're successful; and once we've got them, experience shows they'll be Gasheads for life.

Which explains our ageing fanbase. No relative success for a long time.

Having read through this post, I reckon we'd better forget "Irene" and learn the words of "I miss the hungry years" - just in case.
