Ok whilst I never shared his extreme views on Matty I remember thinking about 18 months ago that Matty could be a useful player if he learned to finish. He always had a good touch and put in the effort but his goal return on chances was not good and you couldn't rely on him when a game was tight and we needed a goal
He was the best we had however but I could understand T'bone,s stance even if he was over the top with his comments
The Matty we are now seeing however is a changed man
i believe over the last few games that his work rate has dropped and he hasn't played well. Having said that, he now looks like a natural scorer and his eye for a goal is 100% better . The way that he took the pass yesterday and to my mind knew exactly what he was going to do was evocative of Marcus Stewart who was to my mind the same type of player
So for the final 2games could we please have Matty reinvigorated but with the same goal touch and maybe T,bone can give him his "most improved player" of the year award

I have to agree with Philistine, and somewhat with T Bone. IF we go up the standard will be that bit higher again. Can we afford the luxury of having a bit of a donkey in the side? His goal return this season is pretty good and 9 goals in 10 games or whatever is good but we could equally have lost those games and Taylor's goals would have meant nothing. TBH i think at the end of the season we should say " Thanks Matty, you did a decent job, all the best for the future"

By last few I meant the last 3games.. I was trying to make the point ( and obviously failed) that natural goal scorers can disappear for 88 minutes and then pop up and score when it matters. That is something new in his game

Unfu**kingbelievable I find it equally baffling that I can't state that in my mind Matty has improved his Composure and goal scoring skills quite dramatically over the course of a year without someone trying to belittle the point in the absurd belief that I am belittling him in some way i wish people would read a thread before commenting in such an aggressive way

Why on Earth would you want to be fair to T bone? Seriously though, whilst we have a lot to be grateful for to Matty, he as a player will surely always be indebted to DC. Despite all the doubters (and trolls) he has steadfastly stuck by him and as a result we have all massively reaped the rewards.

He was back defending for most the second half and popped up with a beauty to take all the pressure off I right lady garden was stood behind me yesterday calling every player names,if everything he said was true we would be bottom with about 4 points not 4th with a good chance of going up Top tip for some supporters,if you don't know what you are talking about save all your bullshit for the pub with your mates, the fans stood around pay to watch football not negative bullshit from some gorm Utg

There is no comparison what so ever. Taylors goals/chances ratio has improved greatly this season, but I take the credit for that. He has clearly taken notice of my assessment of his game and worked on turning it around.

We were all wondering if we would ever find a 20 a season striker. Last year he got 22 (?) which was pretty much what we were after. Then there were the misgivings about how he would perform in league 2. But he achieves again the 20 goal mark. Since then it's been disgraceful. Goal after goal until he became the leagues top scorer and the top scorer in the tip four leagues. Only two away from the magic thirty. Who asked for that? No one! We said twenty and we meant twenty. Bloody clueless.

If MT goes at the end of the season, then people of T.Bones ilk will realise what we are missing next season, and probably will pick on a player struggling to score 10+ plus goals.if we can get one.

To a certain extent I agree with Phillistine and understand what he was saying. Yesterday, and last week, when he was playing mainly up front, he didn't put in the effort chasing their defenders down like Gaffney does when he is up front alone! Gaffney always works his socks off! Earlier in the season Matty would always 'put in a shift', even when he wasn't scoring and was worth his place in the side, if only for that! Now, he's become the striker we want, but seems to have lost some off the work-rate he had earlier. Having said that, when he dropped back to the left and Gaffney went up front alone, he did work much harder and you can't deny the quality of the finish! We also looked much better in that formation against a very useful Exeter.

Even if as you say his work rate has dropped he is the divisions top scorer and therefor getting close attention of two defenders most games which allows others more oppertunities to score.
