Very happy, we get to keep him, get a fee when he goes and no need to find a replacement. So smiles all round. But there is a tale to be told here I am sure . . .

Nice comments from him. Still find it all rather odd tbh. Either way, hopefully he genuinely does really want to be here and we can only assume that is the truth. As meadgas said, he should cut it in L1, but fingers crossed. I have absolutely no doubt he will do well in league one to be honest. A player who scored 20+ in Div 2 should surely be able to hack it in Div 1 but until we've seen in him play a few games I can't see anybody can have no doubts he'll do well. I wonder if MT held out until Oxford made their final bid so he could get the most out of the deal from us, if so, I guess we can only blame ourselves for not offering him a 2 year contract last summer.

Well I have no doubts Topper. I have seen enough to firmly believe he is good enough at league 1 level. The only cross against his name is that he hs nevwr played league one before but I see absolutely no reason he won't perform at this level. That is my opinion.

Very good news, was a bit of a pantomime for a while to be honest but hey he's signed. Can this squad do it again and make it 3 in a row? With a couple of decent Dc type additions to the squad and a bit of luck-who knows? One things for sure,i haven't felt this exited or optimistic at the start of a season for a very long time. Come on Rovers!

Happy he's signed, cautious but happy. However, is this his most arrogant comment ever.. "If, at some point down the line, a club comes in for me then they will have to pay Bristol Rovers a fee and I can leave by the front door, with my head held high."How about we see how you get on in league 1 first yeah Matty? I think Taylor realises this. Hence his use of the word "if", at the start of his sentence.

Yeah too right Richard Walker was a clever player he had to be as he had very little pace so it was all about position and timing unlike Matty Taylor not only is he a prolific goal scorer he is also a bloody good all rounder who will tear it up in league one as well
