Therefore the project has to have something in it long term for uwe im guessing ? As for BRFC I have always been of the opinion the company should have other arms to the business to bring in income.

I read it, UWE are saying we do not want to sell our land, you need to rent / lease the site from us, take it or leave it; which probably means another 30 years ******* about; that said, I like the MEM, great location, plenty of boozers, whats not to like ? if Wael has a few bob ? simply revamp the existing ground, which will be plenty big enough for div 1 football, which is where we have been playing most of football since I have been watching the boys in blue and white.

League 1 is base level for Waels ambissions. They were looking for a league 1/2 club to take up the leagues and develop. if these ambissions are to be realised then whatever we can build at the Mem will be bursting at the seams of the site and we will be stuck with a smaller car park and the existing parking struggles, which is bad enough when we don't sell out. We will always be in the shadows of city and Ashton Gate.

A compromise may be worth a lengthy wait for an alternative development.

I am not ITK but think we will buy some land and develop that, Wael does not strike me as a tenant kind of businessman, Higgs would have agreed things to get us a ground, however Wael has more money and contacts for funding.

A compromise may be worth a lengthy wait for an alternative development. Hopefully a deal has been agreed in principle and it's just a case of agreeing the minor details now the way SH has been talking. As regards seeking an alternative site, you have to be looking at 2 or 3 years to sort out designs & planning then a 2 build. Do any of us really have the appetite to wait another 4 to 5 years, even if everything goes to plan, which is never does at Rovers anyway. Uwe is the only game in town, no other site has the access, transport links and the potential increase in future population. You would think all this would offset a deal that is marginally more in favour of uwe than we'd like it to be. In an ideal world yes we'd like everything to be perfect. Throw this away now and it will be a six or seven year wait by which time all the goodwill and progress built will have disappeared. No it's not. In fact there is a potential alternative site that Rovers have been made aware of. The downside is that we would have to go through the planning stages again. The advantage is that it is again in South Gloucs.

At the end of the day Money talks and Wael has it and Nick Higgs didn't. As they say "Everything has a price" and it could well be the financial aspect that is the hold u. I really hope it goes through because another 30 years is certainly not on my schedule!!!!

He mentioned that the two new blokes were working on the project still in his interview.

He mentioned that the two new blokes were working on the project still in his interview. Which is pretty obvious. We have effectively heard nothing substantive on uwe since the takeover.

I agree it was obvious to most. I put it as the original poster was moaning that the 2 had disappeared, like they were not working on the project at the moment.

I gather things are moving along nicely and there is reason to be positive.

He looked a little uncomfortable to me for the first time. Nothing obvious, but he didn't look too excited about the new season and cut several of his answers short.
I'm probably wrong.

I think we will go where we can buy the land and perhaps develop some of it ourselves
