I assume you have tried rather than just ranting on an independent forum about it? If you are making them think its criticism (unless you mean to me) then maybe wording it as help rather than criticism? I am merely giving an example of how poorly run I think we are. What were you expecting our attendance to be for the first game? No idea but my point was that yes, for this match, you predicted better than they did however catering managers need to do this every single match. Predicting catering is extremely hard, almost a lose lose. Too little and you get people with no food, too much and you waste money. I agree that Rovers aren't run very well however surely you can see improvement in communication and off the field activities, ironically, since we went down? Might be best to treat Rovers like a child, keep praising them when they do something right and perhaps some of it may stick?

Surely the point of a Happy Hour is that it is a limited time offer to get people in. If we ran Happy Hour after the game as well, aren't we just discounting our prices permanently ? If it increases footfall & bar takings then it is a good thing, generally the bar prices are high in comparison to local pubs. still damned if they do & damned if they don't. Jimbo out! Whos this Jimbo??? Another one of the football club's stooges?

Anyone who takes any interest in our club and its attendances over the years would know that our attendance was going to be much higher than 5-5500 last Saturday. I've been going to the Mem since we moved there and I said before the game at least 7000 maybe even 7500. We normally get more than that first game but what with the drop in divisions you can normally knock a few hundred off. The club should know this and it's really typical of the shambolic way that Bristol Rovers is run these days.
Easy money missed out on through complete incompetence.

I predicted that there would be just over 7000 there last Saturday. If you look at the Grimsby crowd prediction thread, you will see that a lot of others thought the same.

I think i and most others would haveanticipated a higher crowd, but maybe the club are being more conservative in their budgeting now.
Generally we turn out to give them a chance and it will drop of when are level has been judged by the fans
That said thanks for the reply Brian

Just because there's going to be a big crowd, how do they know how much people will eat. Just because Henbury Gas usually eats 3 pasties, who's to know his Mum didn't cook a turkey in the week and he bought his own Turkey & Branston pickle sandwiches?

This kind of comment makes me smile. As the club estimated the attendance less than you - this is your basis for making the comment that this sums up why BRFC is poorly run . Not sure how to take that? It's true though. If an average fan like me is better at predicting that sort of thing than the club then you have to start looking at yourselves! Our planning and preparation for things is god damn awful from not knowing how much relegation cost us to how much the attendance will be! Highs didn't even know who the manager would be this season a few weeks after the last one ended or what the budget would be. Shocking. the point is that there were people predicting 4500 - it was an unknown. Conference football , poor relations between the club and fans plus it was being televised live . Yes they got it wrong but hindsight is a wonderful thing

People generally eat at lunchtime. I don't agree at all. When I go to see the Mariners some games are 5.30 KO. I usually take along a snack for my son and I eat when I get home. Not everyone has enough spare cash to buy food at the football. Especially me at the moment. I must admit the last time I was back in Bristol I bought pasties at the game. I was on holiday and the pasties are sh** in Australia. Although a couple of blokes I go with think nothing of buying 2 or 3 overprices crap tasting beers. We can drink and watch while we're watching the game here.
