Sacking Clarke would prove that this football club has completely run out of ideas. We have had an embarrassing number of managers over the last 4 years with the same horrendous results. The problems run far, far deeper than the manager and we as supporters are beginning to realise that no matter how much the board tell us otherwise. I never thought I would come close to walking away from the club but I am sick of this sh it.

Who would you have instead of him? The board won't pay fees for players, don't see it happening for contracted managers. I would actually advertise, shortlist and interview. I would select the beat candidate from that process. I certainly wouldnt appoint John Wards 50th choice candidate that he unintentionally chose whilst arranging a pre season friendly.

Because dins who in thier right mind would take a paid job at this club at the moment, it's above the manager, look at others who have left most are doing all right, and as others have said he needs time to get the players together, was it dc or the board who took too long to get players into the club, are the board doing this on purpose and yrs i do own a tinfoil hat

He wasnt the boards idea I agree sacking a manager after three games is daft but this post was asking about why DC should be manager and so far only Centenary gas has come up with anything. The only thing more daft the sacking DC after 3 games is the process that made him manager.

Gary Thompson not a manager Gerry Francis not a manager Ian atkins not a manager Paul Buckle not a manager Ray Graydon not a manager Mark Mcghee not a manager john ward not a manager Dave Penny not a manager Paul Trollope not a manager Every time we advertise the managers job we get massive numbers of applications.

Can someone please tell me why he should be our manager ?. All i hear is reasons why he has had it tough not reasons why he should be manager. Appointed without an interview by a failed manager. Part if the team that got us relegated to non league Bad results Inexperienced Badly connected Why is this man trusted with returning us to league football? Someone please reassure me Sorry Dinsdale, I cannot give you the reassurances you are looking for ... But in your five point list there is only one point which is of concern i.e. Bad Results. If we did not have poor results we would not be querying how he got the position, whether he had enough experience, or whether he was badly connected. There is another poster who has quoted DCs stats over all games (last season, pre-season, this season). They read bad. For me the real stats are played 3, lost 2, drawn 1, won zilch. This is just the end of week 1 in this division. For that reason I am not going to be shouting for his head; there is time to turn this around. My real concern is the long term slide going back over a number of years. DC cannot be blamed for this. My concerns are with the board ...

For me he tells it as it is, I can relate to his comments based on what I have seen at games.(Other managers I think you were not at the same game)
However he needs to get a team and formation in his mind and work with it all this constant changing does not work, lower league players are that for a reason and no disrespect but we have to accept that they are not able to keep changing.
I have always thought we could play with wing backs but I don't think our current central defenders are strong or quick enough, so probably 4-4-2 for me in the short term.

If you ignore last season and we had appointed Darrel Clarke because he gained promotion from the league below, would most people not be happy that we were finally taking a chance on a young up coming manager and not another 'proven' one? Because of last season, when he was totally left in the lurch,he will not get any time from supporters,as we've seen only too clearly after today's loss.He will of course always be associated with our relegation last year but the BoD probably never even took into consideration that there would not be the usual honeymoon period given to him if a poor start to the season occurred."Darrel Clarke has a contract as manager for next season",the famous words of our glorious leader, didn't sound convincing at the time and a combination of the managers upbeat interview on Radio Bristol and him being the cheap option seem to be the 2 main factors as too why he did retain the job.In short Darrell Clarke is our manager because he has the potential to be a good manager but the baggage from last season is weighing a lot heavier than he or the board thought it would.I wanted him to be given another chance this season btw.

If he was appointed following competetive applications, shortlisting, interviews and background checks yes but he wasnt he was appt by accident by John Ward because his targets for assistant manager didnt work out

If that team out there today has been built with a competitive budget then we are fuc ked, because to me it looks like a load of cast offs.

How many have not done ok since they left, i would be shocked if any of them suffered finacialy after leaving That's a big question, inee, and one I have raised before. Of that long list of past managers from the sacking of Trollope (only 3 years 8 months ago) and onwards, how much have we paid all these men, how much are we still paying some of them, and how much have these payoffs contributed to our financial crisis? Hugo the Elder suggested that this would never be made public information, and I'm sure he's right. The numbers would make us all explode.

His appointment IMO was a bit like when Stuart Campbell was appointed. Personally I said all along that John ward should have been sacked February/March and Martin Allen installed as manager. My reason -he was and is an expert at keeping teams up with a proven record. He has stature as a Manager and would have been able, with his contacts been able to get players of Football League standard to play for us. I cannot give any good reason for appointing him but now he is our Manager he has to be given at least until the end of september to see whether he can turn this around.

I have not seen a single positive from DC from the moment he was accidently appointed assisant manager. Have you ? He did well to get Salisbury promoted but no manager of BRFC should be appointed without due process and a competetive interview unless there is very good reason That's very harsh to me. His recruitment policy in terms of contract lengths and types of player is what we have been crying out for. Off the pitch he's done well but on it we are up sh** creek.

Part if the team that got us relegated to non league Bad results Inexperienced Badly connected Why is this man trusted with returning us to league football? Someone please reassure me Because the man is infectious,,, Bristol Rovers through and through ...says it as it is....everyone knows a manager needs at least 2 seasons to get a side firing on all cylinders,,,he is working with a small squad a present,,,the board are not backing him with the clout of the fanbase that is here,,,,Some players need to look at themselves,,, we have just been relegated ,we are only three games into the season,,,,Give the bloke a chance ,,if by October we have not got many points on the board,,,,re assess the situation,,,,whether he plays 4- 4-2.or.3-5-2 the players have been doing this all their careers..perhaps he is a hard taskmaster and some players dont like this ...but there again Martin Allen..is in the same mould.,,and many of you on here are wanting him... I believe in time he will turn it around ..as stated by some of you on here the situation we are in at this club goes back years...stability is required and when DC has a full squad of players he wants at this club...we will then see the full potential of his management...he is hurting just like the rest of us.
