I don't care if this makes me heartless, but the part about "getting behind them" really, really angers me.
Every single year, the same crap rhetoric. If any club went through the crap we go through year on year, they'd riot. We have probably supported this club too much. Support from our fans is a given, how about the support from the board?

Best wishes to Geoff Dunford for the future and thanks for what his Father and he did for the Rovers in our last dark hour. Its' true to say there have been lots' of speculation flying around about whether he did this or blocked this etc etc. His resignation will if some have us believe open up the club to financial investment, only time will tell on this but I note in his statement he mentions he has had little involvement in the last few years apart from financial backing of the club. Very disappointing to see some even criticising his resignation statement, for christs sake what did some expect him to say! UTG!

Well I guess the time is obviously right for him to leave, for whatever reasons he may have, and some may speculate.
But thanks for your hard work Geoff, there can be no disputing the effort and commitment that you and your father put in over the years.
Now, what does the next chapter hold for us, I wonder.....

An I right in thinking that just because he has left the board, it doesn't mean he will relinquish any shares? Therefore new investment is still unlikely. Looking forward to the official statement later this morning. This was the first thing that crossed my mind just before i went to the vets, what is happening with his shares, if he keeps em then nothing changes as he will still be able to vote as a shareholder , if he's selling em whose buying, will it be someone has a controlling vote , so many permatations, could be good or bad these shares

Think this is probably to do with ill health, and as such I'm not sure how big this news really is? It's change I guess, but I want some fresh blood on the board. Will this spark it? Like others above though, got to give thanks to him and his Father for saving the club. It's too little too late Olly, He vetoed the new investment and it's gone now. You don't get a chance to get someone like Daryl Eales very often. It's a non story really. Just strengthen Herr Higgs hand

Maybe with this depression and other stuff i'm one of the lucky ones as the reality of our situation hit me like a ton of bricks at the last game of the season. very lucky that wendy understands how rovers affect me and she never give me grief, She knew i was going into a massive downer on sat and just worked around it. The Dunford news gave me a massive up for a few seconds but ,thinking about his share bought me down again. Would be a fantastic if the fans could buy his shares and have a presence on the board but in reality i doubt we could raise enough in continuing costs, then who would represent us etc, nice idea but plagued with reality, i'm overthinking this so need to have a drink from the cup of shut the f**k up for a minute or two

Thanks for clarifying that dins, one less thing to stress about almost, so the options are keep em, sell em wholesale to someone, split and sale em to other directors etc

I wanted honesty, openeness and for the directors to stop treating fans like punters.

So if it's one vote each per Director then Geoff wasn't on his own then vetoing the new investor?

So if it's one vote each per Director then Geoff wasn't on his own then vetoing the new investor? I am not privvy to votes being taken but, as it am led to believe it, he was involved in blocking. I know there were 4 board meetings where alternatives were put forward. One by ex directors that was mentioned by Higgs at the Q&A and the other not being spoken about. Thing is that there are people on the board who are obviously indiscreet and it comes out sooner than later. It was pretty open that Nick and Geoff had a bust up but I thought that was sorted.

Just strengthen Herr Higgs hand Eales could well be like Tan at Cardiff for all we know, first it was Birmingham City, then us, now Oxford, he hardly sounds a committed Gashead willing to invest in the club, which is what we all surely want.
