What has the trend been for the last 10 seasons? Who has spoken about the big step up...? In answer to your second question, obviously not everyone but a fair number, particularly at the start of the season. Maybe I shouldn't have said 'we'. In answer to your first question: In the last 10 years, of 40 promoted teams: 3 (8%) got promoted again, 2 (5%) automatically and 1 (3%) through the play-offs. 8 (20%) got to at least the play-offs. 17 (43%) finished in the top half. 23 (58%) finished in the bottom half. 6 (15%) were relegated. Average (mean) finishing position of a promoted side: 13th Those numbers are pretty much what you might get if it were completely random.

Can't get much of a steer from them, but clearly the division varies year on year in terms of quality. I'm inclined to think it's not a vintage year this season and that gives us a chance of being there or thereabouts.

It may have happened somewhere in non league but certainly not in a run that includes football league seasons, as I don't think any team has had 3 successive promotions.

We are doing pretty well atm!

I'd agree with this, in recent years in league 1 there has been the likes of Leeds, Southampton, Forest, Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday. Now really the only side comparable to that lot are Sheffield United and Bolton? But sheff u have been here for years now and Bolton havenot had a blistering start. No reason why we can't compete up there with the Bradfords and the Scubthorpes of this division regardless of how established they are.

Were Gills really thuggish ? there must have been about 8 or 9 bookings today but I can't remember one bad foul. first half was dire but maybe that was down to Rovers midfield and wing backs being soon deep - I thought DC set us up to play the runaway leaders until I remembered it was gillingham at ht !! Yes Mark, they were. As you weren't in the East terrace you missed their player deliberately & with malice aforethought follow through on Bodin when the ball was already out. Maybe no really bad fouls but Gills set tone of the match. Glad they got what they deserved.[/quote] konchesky munched down our player in anger as he was annoyed for conceding. Not an excuse though. Gk booked for time waisting. Nouble booked for kicking the ball away. another booked for having a rip at the ref. perhaps thuggish is slight exaggeration but cyclical certainly. the other yellows were as clear as day.

Call it what you like. But as I said, they set the tone. And if the ref thought a cynical foul wasn't a card but any comments by a player was - so be it.

Disappointed with Mildenhall at half-time. I think he took no part in the half-time kick about/warm up and then strolled across the pitch just before the second half kick-off with a cup of tea/coffee in his hand and flaunted it at the other subs. If he doesn't want to be on the bench then I'd rather have Puddy back. Here we go. There's always got to be a villain.

Konchesky was booked right at the death of the game, probably more in frustration they'd lost, all the bookings up to that point were fairly petty. Surprised a Justin Edinburgh team set out to frustrate rather than win the game, more like you'd expect from former manager Hassenthaler.
I know the club did a good ticket offer for yesterday's game but 9,500 was a good turn out, against hardly attractive opposition.

Sub GK rarely make it on the pitch dont know what you expected him to be doing.

He knows he's extremely unlikely to get called upon unless something bad happens to Roos unexpectedly which is rare for a keeper. The others need to be ready to go at any moment. The only exception being defensive players as it is rare for Clarke to bring on a defensive sub with exception to injury which rarely happpens to this squad.

Deserved win against a really poor team. Clear handball and sending off for their keeper missed by the useless ref and lino in the first half. would have been a yellow I think, also he gave a free kick to us for what seemed to be a blatant dive by lines who was on a yellow at the time, think we hand balled in the buildup to the winner as well so no complaints about the ref from me!

The ref was useless but he was useless both ways and we won but that doesn't change the fact that he was useless. They don't seem to be any better in league 1 than league 2 that's for sure.

Ellis booted the ball at Mildenhall causing a bit of spillage. The rest of the wander over to dugout was lots of laughing and joking about the incident and then more attempts to knock over cuppa as Mildenhall sat down & not knowing who was taking pot shots. To me it looked like a bunch of close knit lads having a good giggle. Banter, Team Spirit. Call it what you want. Mildenhall looked very happy to be there rather than at home
