This forum is for opinions. Mine is that the FA should tell FIFA to get bloody stuffed. Poppies are to remember those of many races & religions who fought for us.The self-serving bunch of crooks at FIFA can butt out.

This forum is for football-related topics & opinions. In my opinion our FA should tell FIFA to get bloody stuffed. We wear them in memory of those of many races & religions (& indeed political persuasions) who died for us. The money-grubbing, snouts-in-trough self-serving crooks at FIFA can take a running jump.

Cant argue with that but possibly thread should be in the general sport section as not Rovers related

Disagree. This relates to every club, Rovers included. But even if it didn't it should still get the maximum exposure.

My advice to the FA would be follow the advice of one of FIFA's main sponsors - Just Do It.

I hope that the home nations ignore FIFAs threat of sanctions Maybe they want a payoff first before they change their minds. As previously posted this is remind us of people how gave their lives to save our freedoms nothing else.

Why would we want to alienate the families of the victims?

Agree there, it should be the choice of each player alone if they wear a poppy no one else, Even today many families are affected by the loss of a family member dying in service or even off duty, the poppy is not only about donating to the british legion to help some of those families ,but more importantly it sends a clear message to those who have lost someone , that in the main we do care, we respect them for their sacrifice, we also remember or family and friends who served.
So fifa screw offending a few people what about the millions who will take offence at your inability to allow players to remember those who gave.

Unlike other clubs, we play every home game at a War Memorial.

England and Scotland have both now said that they will wear poppies on arm bands and take the consequences. Wales have also asked to do the same in their game against Serbia on Saturday and most likely will wear arm bands. The FA have taken legal advice and they feel they are on firm ground re FIFA's rules.

Wouldn't have had this problem if Prince Ali was elected..

Fifa why don't you complete your disrespect by allowing white poppies, suits you lot of scum ridden bastards, hope one of you chokes on your fecking caviar breakfast then we can wipe our arse on your obituary, just to show the same type of disrespect you are showing.
Poppies are neither political or religious(yes you fifa wake the f**k up or stop slamming each others dick in doors. Popies are a mark of respect not only for the dead but also to every menmer of our 3 armed forces who have served Queen and country in whatever capacity, long may they be remembered and held in high regard ,by those of us who actually thank and respect what they have done and continue to do on our behalf

The trouble is, if FIFA allow this, then they won't have a leg to stand on when Putin demands to have a memorial to the dead of the patriotic uprising of the Crimea on Russian shirts, or random African dictator want to have his party's logo on their shirts, or strange far eastern despot wants a picture of his badly haircut head on their shirts, etc.

I can see the fifa issue, once you allow people to put other symbols on their kits its a dodgy road. Forgetting fifa, the players should be able to decide on an individual basis. If someone told me i had to wear one i wouldnt.
