Gone on loan to Eastleigh. Not a very progressive move for a 21 year old with ambition.

Never seen a player as out of his depth as santos. The worst proper winger I've seen for the gas. He just constantly fell over, maybe it was nerves.

Only on the bench for Derbys under 21's last night in the EFL Trophy match, probably tells it all.

Donavon Wilson (19?) scored for Wolves in the EFL so could be a future sell on clause to make some money.
Hopefully Macey might game some game time if Arsenal qualify in the Champions league with a few games to spare?
Eastleigh might still be a good move for Alefe though. Good luck to him.

John Ward thought Santos was a good player.
That says it all really.

John Ward thought Santos was a good player. That says it all really. Yeah cuz JW is a professional footy coach who watched him every day. To top that off he got signed by Derby County who are a light year ahead of us, when he was still a kid. But what?

i think it was hard on santos getting involved in a desperate relegation fight at such a young age and he couldnt really deliver the goods. that derby signed was very strange to me though he did have some ability in my view.

As you say it could be a good move for him, the Spitfires are a decent club who try to play a bit of football. It will be a good experience for him, he might (unless cup-tied) get a game against swindle next week. UTG

Just imagine what would have happened to us if an amateur, know-nothing coach had been in charge in that last season! But how?

Highlights of him scoring a hat trick against Newcastle in the u23 league a few weeks ago. Looks a good player at 19. A couple of the fans' comments on that vid suggest they rate him as well. As you say hopefully a big future with a bit of money in it for the Gas.

We volunteered to go down for a few seasons before we dropped. Santos was a kid when he left us to go to Derby. That's Derby County not Mangotsfield Utd.

Wow, thanks for the football and Geography lesson. I always thought Derby and Mangotsfield were virtually next to each other, both physically and in a football sense, thanks for clearing that up.
Also, and only in my opinion, if Santos was such a prospect I would have expected him to have broken into the under performing Derby first team squad. I saw him in all his appearances for us, and I just couldn't see what all the fuss was about. He just didn't appear to have a great deal of talent, for that would have shown through, even if he was wanting a bit physically.
Only my opinion, and I'll be he first to admit I don't have the tiniest fraction of the footballing knowledge of the titanic icon that is John Ward.

Hopefully it works out for the lad. A strange move at the time going from regular first team football to a development squad. He effectively held his own progress back by doing that but he's a decent talent so hopefully he can get back on track.

You may well be right, but JW didn't make Derby take him. They obviously thought he had something as well. What I know not.

The fact he's still under contract perhaps suggests they still think he can make it, it will be interesting to see how he gets on against Swindle if he plays, is that match live on TV again?

Your opinion was at odds with the Derby talent scouts then! My point about Mangoes was that most of our players that aren't cut out for us, end up at clubs like that..not move up a level to your Derby Countys. I have no doubt that you haven't a clue where Derby is in relation to Mangotsfield.
