I lost my job earlier this year, and so having time on my hands I decided to go through boxes and boxes of tapes I've kept over the years.

Feb 18. 1984. I remember it so very very well. It was the day our first son was born. I saw the first goal and then saw my father in law walking around the dog track accompanied by a policeman. Then a tannoy message advising me to attend Southmead Hospital, where my wife was about to give birth. Missed the other 5 goals and eventually found out the result at 23.40 that Saturday night. |
