Agree is all about the result. Really pleased to get the win and just want to make it clear after some comments i have heard / read that those of us who have been critical of the board or DC are just as delighted with the win as those who have different but equally valid views. Happy that myself and others i have met are able to emotionally separate our love for the club with our less positive views of individuals involved with the club.
Off to celebrate a vital win and drink lots of cider. Utg

Looks like I won't be coming to a home game again this season then!
Lets see if my impressive away record continues on Monday!

Maybe it's too early to bump the ground breaking thread. I said I would if we won. To keep everybody happy, I will bump the thread if we win on Monday. If we do can we say we are back. The bus is being checked as I write this. Ever hopeful, as always. How did Ellis do when he came on What is that I see in the distance?

It was pretty crap until thr goal. Ollie Clarke was poor until one fantastic strike and claims MOTM. The decent football we played after the goal just shows how much confidence is a factor.
Lots of hoofball in the first half, very poor to watch.

I thought Lockyers passing was pretty poor, but overall the defence looked pretty solid, trotman was winning everything in the air and nice to have a bit if a presence up front in Cunnington.

As the stats suggest, it wasn't a convincing win but it was comfortable. Very stop start game, Telford time wasting from 30 mins until the goal and the referee was pretty poor too - doesn't help re: entertainment and stops the game from flowing. Restricted Telford to very little, a few sloppy defensive errors still there though. Clean sheet will help confidence wise I'm sure I hope DC picks up the idea that we won't beat sides at this level playing hoofball, Lockyer was particularly prone to doing it today. Once we got the ball on the floor, we looked much better than the opposition. When we're firing on all cylinders we'll win games like that convincingly I'm sure. Decision making was a little poor, but again that's confidence for you.

DC states he instructs the team to play it on the floor but they still hoof it. Maybe its nerves or a lack of quality ? Hopefully the former

Hopefully the former In which case he should be showing Mansell and Clarke how to create space and get the ball rather than stand still or trot off up the pitch. And centre backs (+Lockyer) how to look up and pick a simple pass rather than take a step back and hoof it aimlessly when they have 20ft of space around them. Being in the Conference won't drive fans away, but that crap excuse for football will. We need strong characters who aren't afraid to take charge. Clarkes goal masked the opposite of that for me today.

Thanks guys for making this forum the most active place to read a match thread by far. I will leave this here for a bit and then move to match day threads to archive.
Cantankerous thanks as always for your media efforts.

Ok so are we all in agreement that future match day threads should be based on the wrong fixture? Like 'john the hoop' said this could be a good luck tradition, maybe my incompetence at starting a match day thread has brought us luck. Anyways BRISTOL ROVERS 1 ALFRETON 0

Clarkes goal masked the opposite of that for me today. Spot on. Todays performance was truly awful ,apart from the goal and the football we played for ten minutes after .What i want to know is what do they do in training. They should be being coached NOT to knock it long all the time. Where is this possession football with pace we were promised ? We are crying out for a ball carrying midfield player. Today we won because our opposition was so incredibly poor ,but this team playing this style will struggle to finish in the top ten.
