If he's 6' 2" & versatile then surely it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility he could also be 'converted' to centre back, or used in a back 3, or even as a relatively tall & more defensively minded right back, a bit like Locks was in conference. If we lack height & strength at set pieces then wherever he plays that might also be a bonus. DC knows what he'll evolve into!

About 3/4 years since he played for Bournemouth but pretty sure when they were in League 2 he was a defensive midfielder who EH converted into a defender in the back 4. Was comfortable on the ball, passed fairly well but was a young player who never seemed to make it and really suffered from injuries. But despite the injuries was always given a new contract and must have had a couple of contracts at Bournemouth so EH must have rated him. When they got promoted to Championship I think they realised he wouldn't play and so did he and he wanted to so he moved on. Pretty sure he was on loan at Eastleigh before signing permanently. If true and it seems as if it is, I'm really happy because he's a good guy and would imagine he'll fit in well. A bit similar to Lee M without the experience and with being captain at Eastleigh would imagine he has grown well into the role with leadership qualities. Would imagine he could play defensive MF if DC wanted but I suspect defender might be his first position. UTG! LOL, someone made use of Google....

I used to watch Bournemouth play when they were in league 2 and I must of seen this lad play 20 times. Didn't think too much of him but he must of only been a teenager at the time.

It's a bit of a gamble , but if he's paying money for him he must be pretty convinced of his ability - think he'll challenge RB and CB. Now let's get a KEEPER !!!

Seems to be highly thought of at Eastleigh and at 26 should be coming into the best period of his career. Hasn't got masses of league experience but then neither had Taylor until last year and he's a similar age. His versatility is also a bonus but I'm hoping he proves to be a first choice CB in the long term as that's the position that most needs strengthening.

Mad Dog likes to wheel and deal so you wonder if he's just happy to get him off the wage bill now rather than in the summer, as I assume he's on a fair whack if he's club Captain, bearing in mind Constable joined them rather than stay a league player?
Not sure why fans want him converted to a defensive CM as surely we need him in the centre of the defence, or back up for Leads if we want to keep it tight away from home?
Although there's no news he's actually signing yet from the club.

Sounds the right kind of character and rated very highly by all Eastleigh fans. Hopefully we've got a bargain here. James Clarke wasn't rated highly at all by Woking fans and he was a great asset in L2.

Eastleigh fan here. Joe will do a great job for you, and will be worth every penny that you pay for him. He has been a great servant to our club, and a model professional. I'm very sorry to see him go, but we've had a chaotic season, with 3 managers and Gods knows how many players signing. I think that we've had over 50 different players in the League this season. Not sure how this current manager will work out, but at least our Chairman is still here. Good luck for the rest of the season (with Joe!)

I was most impressed with him when Roonie Moore took the captaincy away from him, and gave it to Ryan Cresswell. No tantrums or threats to leave. He just got his head down and got on with his job. Needless to say, he got the captaincy back.
