What worries me is with these 6 being told they will no longer be selected plus injuries to Leadbetter and the centre Backs will we have enough players to put out against Walsall ( including subs ) ? And if we get any more injuries how will it be dealt with ? I'm assuming their must be a host of signings on the horizon ?

At lot of experience being dumped by DC in that list..... Lets hope the incoming players have as much...
I don't think experience is as vital as some make out, just looking at Abraham single handedly keeping the teds heads above water.

These are the sort of moves that should be made after making some KEY signings and not before. Really worried about the present situation as it seems so strange to get rid of McCrystal when Lockyer has been the weak link in the two games and for mostr of the season and all we have to replace Puddy is an inexperienced youngster. Is this DC preparing to boost the squad with some EXPERIENCED good players or is he starting to lose the plot. I am far from convinced with his latest handling of things and it seems to be more outgoings than anything as we have seen Roberts, Boateng, Roos, Colkett, Easter, McCrystal, Gosling, Lawrence all go out or being told they wont play anymore with a further four players injured at the moment (Mildenhall, Leadbitter, Hartley and Clarker-Salter) That's twelve players out and only a non league recruit and a young inexperienced goalkeeper in. No news on either the Training ground or the UWE..can things be suddenly taking a turn for the worse? Is the plane now circling the airport very short of petrol? We need some reassurances from the top in this situation. A) These players have not yet left so to count them as gone is wrong B) Being worried that a double promotion and 9th in the league is ridiculous pull yourself together C) Injuries cant be helped, happens to everyone D) We dont need a 35 man squad as we did until roberts left E) no news on UWE, training facilities for a few months does not indicate an imminent club failure F) Extremely distateful reference to the recent Air disaster in colombia

I was thinking along the lines of advising the young ones when the dodo hits the fan on the pitch. We all watched what effect MM had on Lockyer and we kept a clean sheet..

Makes you wonder why the club shop had a crash sale recently........ You've turned into a proper conspiracy theorist of late. What happened, did Wael take his Commodore 64 to a competitor? Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it.

The fact that this is happening now rather than the end of season surely means other players are coming in

Would it not have made more sense to tell them they were not in his long term plans and should start looking rather than say they will not be selected again. Why cut-off options? Who knows what the next few weeks and months could hold in terms of injuries and then DC might have to play them or use youngsters. Why force yours into a corner? Think DC could have handled this better.

19 days into the transfer window? This may leave us a bit short as well.. seems I'm not the only one who finds this a bit odd looking at the rest of the comments Yeah, I guess Darrell would have wanted to asses what he could get as replacements before dropping the hammer. Better for the players than announcing in June they'll be let go, anyway.
Don't know about short. We have 5 strikers, and we've already signed McCrystal's replacement, plus we have the Chelsea lad and Hartley to come back later in the season.
this could have all been done at the beginning of the window tho couldn't it? They could have found other clubs by now. and we don't even know if Hartley will make it back before the end, or if Clarke-Salter will return at all?? But anyway I'm more concerned about only having 2 kids to choose from for the goal keeper spot

I guess it depends on the players position as well - I have seen a lot of young strikers burst onto the scene at various clubs, score goals and then go downhill. Just look at Luke James!

All we need now is a senior player to get injured or put in a transfer request... i dread to think what this place would be like..

Didn't DC say the same to Mildy at one point and had to put him back in the team.

I have always been confident that a new stadium would be built, not necessarily UWE but am beginning to wonder if DC is still getting the financial backing of Wael or if Wael is uncertain about UWE, is he cutting back?
All I want this season is to get to 55 points as soon as possible.

Feel for the players and thank them for all they've done. But I f**king love DC's ruthless streak and lack of sentimentality. If it's what makes him and our club successful, I'm all for it. We've had far too many managers dishing out stupid contracts and not having the backbone to do what DC has done today and it's got us right in the sh**. This is a breath of fresh air. All I will say tho it's not all rosy that Puddy can go from number 1 to not being selected for the rest of the season. He isn't good enough, but it goes to show what a mess that situation has been for ages. Dunno what DC has planned, must be bringing in the Gerken Mildenhall is only a couple of weeks away from playing

It seems to me quite a statement , if these six have been told to give them "a chance to get another club" it suggests everyone else on the books will be here next season including Mildenhall and Mansell to name just two.
It could be as others are suggesting that there are experienced players lined up to come in or it could suggest some eralism that we aren't quite ready to make a challenge and we can potentially manage on a smaller squad for the rest of the season.
Not shocked that these six have been told ,time catches up with everyone more surprised at the ones staying, does this mean Mildy will start first choice again once he regains his fitness, as much as i would be happy for DC to be our forever manager I do think he doesn't understand goalkeepers !
iF funds were not a problem the only two keepers I have seen play against us that I would like would cost money, one is Ettheridge and the other is the Exeter goalkeeper who played against us last season

But anyway I'm more concerned about only having 2 kids to choose from for the goal keeper spot Couldn't really have been done at the start of the window because a few of these players have been needed and played in games since then because we had no one else to play, but I'd like to think that he now has people coming in to replace them so we can now afford to let them go.
