I think it was actually good man-management of Clarke to bring him on when he did. He gave Ellis just enough time to impress the crowd with a few good runs. Playing up front gave him that freedom from defensive work and allowed him to shine. Giving him that brief taste of match experience again should spur him on to perform well in training. It shows that DC wants to play him, but it shows to EH that he needs to build up that trust by hard work.

He's just a kid, when I was that age I did many, many more stupid things than him and I'm ok now! Let him off doing things wrong, I'm sure his parents and employer come down on him like a ton of bricks when he makes a mistake, he doesn't need it from a bunch of strangers as well!

What's up with him? Out of all the members of our current squad I see him as having the most potential. Came on last couple of minutes and looked sharp for the limited amount of opportunity he had. I hear rumours of his poor attitude and twatter antics, it's disappointing. Hope this season can be a turning point for the lad, with the right attitude he could go on to do good things and earn us a bit of coin in the process. C'mon buck up and act like a pro, putt the team first because ultimately it will benefit you in the long run. If memory serves me correct, when we announced the retained/leave list, Ellis was placed on the transfer list. I was of the opinion that no team would come in for him, that the club probably thought that too, that the club were simply sending a message to Ellis, to team mates, and to fans, about expectations. DC did say that there was a route back for Ellis. It looks as Ellis has come back with renewed determination. If he is still officially on the transfer list then I think now is the time to publicly take him off the list and send a strong message that he is definitely a part of plans.

I like Ellis, lots of ability, quick ish, big and strong, like him to start against FGR. Taylor is far too light weight needs some bench time. UTG

I had to settle for the BBC website for updates against Telford and was impressed by the number of namechecks he received for the short time he played.
You'd like to think that from all of the new faces at the club, there may well be one who can offer advice and support in a constructive way and help to get his head in the right place

I agree he did well today.
A few idiots near me kept giving him grief every time to touched the ball but a few goals will be the best way to answer the critics.

Don't think he hit his best today but he certainly didn't do badly. Good option to have, wish the moaners would get off his back.

I thought he played well today, held the ball up and made some good runs, actually taking a player on, running past and getting a cross in. Keep going Ellis, great to see it.

He was getting micro managed by the bench as soon as he went on. Ellis this and Ellis that for the duration of his time on the pitch. He has the ability but needs the freedom to express himself.

Or he needs continually reminding of his defence duties etc? Given that they've almost turned him back into a decent footballer they seem to be on the right track so far.

Right now he needs that treatment and I think he'd always take the easy option. If he tried to express himself, he will inevitably lose it at some point... And then the gas faithful will rip him an absolute new one from the stands. There are some just waiting for him to make a mistake, sad times

Players like Ellis will try a bit of this or that. Sometimes they wont work sometimes they work wonderfully. Its what makes for a good attacking forward or winger.
