On the City website - two and a half year deal!
PS That's still not enough time to get in to Europe!

i find it quiet amusing that it will take a ex BRFC player to keep them in the championship when their £2M striker cant get a game

We were maybe signing 1 or 2 players before this came out, now I guess that's out the window as we desperately try to replace Taylor, seems City really have done a number on us here

Rovers star striker signs two-and-a-half-year deal. Taylor joins from Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee Prolific striker signs two-and-a-half-year deal at Ashton Gate 26-year-old scored 67 goals in 132 appearances for Rovers City have swooped to sign Bristol Rovers star striker Matt Taylor for an undisclosed fee. The deal was confirmed on transfer deadline day, with the 26-year-old penning a two-and-a-half-year contract at the Sky Bet Championship club, with a further year’s option. Taylor has been Rovers’ top scorer for the past two seasons and has continued his red-hot form in League One, netting 19 times in all competitions before opting to move to Ashton Gate. He scored an incredible 67 goals in 132 matches during his time at the Memorial Stadium. Head coach Lee Johnson told bcfc.co.uk: "I think we've got ourselves a natural goalscorer. "It's been interesting to watch his progress. He's scored goals at every level he's played at and his next challenge is to do that in the Championship. "Having seen other goalscorers make that step up, Sam Winnall as an example, if you can put the ball in the right areas then they'll inevitably stick it in the net. "It'll be a big step up in standard for him, but he's been able to deal with every challenge that's been thrown at him so far in his career." Taylor was originally on the books of Oxford United, before moving into non-league football and hitting form with Forest Green Rovers from 2011 onwards. Three seasons later Taylor moved to Rovers to boost the blue and white half of Bristol’s bid for an immediate escape from non-league football. He scored 20 times in the Conference, including in both legs of the play-off semi-final against his former employers. Last season Taylor was again the star of the show with 28 goals as Rovers snatched promotion on the final day of the campaign. City have secured the capture of one of the lower leagues' hottest properties and Taylor will now be looking to fire in goals for the red half of the city on an equally regular basis. Had a thought... What about sell-on clauses? If a release clause means we have to let a player talk to a club who activates the correct fee do we have any say on what sell on clauses, or other clauses go in the contract? We have zero negotiating power when the release clause is activated. They pay 300k and that's the end of our involvement. Hold on... We're whinging about the wrong think then! If we can't get a sell on clause he could score 10 goals for them and be sold on for £3m & they keep it all. Now that would be awful (for us). And it could happen. It seems that certain clubs won't take 'gambles' on players but are prepared to pay huge sums once they score in championship (kodiga was £11m? Grey was £9m - both had just a season in the championship)

Interesting fact for the day:
If you take Taylor and:
Drop the A, the Y and the L Add a C Drop the R Drop the O Add a N and a U Rejumble the letters
You get C UNT.

Let's hope the "big step up in standard" is too much for him then.

Honestly shocked. Thankful for his goals and winning us 2 promotions of course, but there is nothing lower than that as a footballer. Hope his career f*cks right up now. C*mt.

Let's not forget this is all a better result than had he gone in the summer when out of contract. Not for me. Going to city to help their relegation battle is not worth £300k For me. Maybe his goals this season were though. At least he leaves us safely in high mid table. Real meltdown would be if we were struggling ourselves.
