"Agree mate. People suggesting spending half a million on a player after 2 games is ridicilous!" "Having said that he does look the business" "He does however lack pace" " The positives do however outshine the negatives" If he turns out sh!t your're correct, if he turns out good your're correct. Who gives a f**k if I'm correct or not? Just saying what I have seen of him. You're obsessed. Going by your tendencies of "bumping" threads that suit your argument, you obviously give a f**k? If you think someone replying to a post of yours on a forum is "obsessed" then I think a forum isn't the best place for you sweetie

Its only been two games but if we could get him for up to £500k considering he's only 19. Best we can hope for it to get him on loan again next season I couldn't make yesterday's game as I had family commitments. I was impressed with Sweeney last week although Swindon didn't provide the toughest of challenges. Listening to the radio in snatches(before I got told to switch it off!) he seemed to give a good account of himself. I was glad Partington got a game. How did he perform. Was Leads injured? Lots of questions there, but I'd love to hear the views of those that were there. With reference to buying Sweeney, that would be great, it just depends how many Stoke defenders are in front of him. I can't see them letting him go if they only recently signed him. He is only 19 and I suspect they will continue to loan him out to develope his game. Love to get him for the whole of next season. I wonder if DC will play him and Burn play next week? Doubt it as Tom seems undroppable which is a shame, because if Burn is fit and up to speed I think Tom could do with a rest. UTG. Partington looks good albeit very different fullback to Leadbitter. Less pace but better crossing. Linked well with Bodin down the right hand side. As regards to Burn, his chance will come but I'm no sue about dropping Lockyer adter 2 clean sheets and he did play well yesterday. We do have 3 games in a week next week though so I'm sure Burn will play at some point then.

Went to the game Partington I thought played very well, gave additional height to the back for and has nice touch as well as pace for a big man, watching him you could tell he had played at this level before calm and the difference between him and Leads are his defensive qualities, he's no mug going forward all in all an impressive debut.Sweeney for me was excellent can't remember him missing one header and does not get out muscled, after watching our abysmal defensive display at Walsall this was a complete turnaround and for the first time this season I didn't feel like the ball would end up in our net from every attack!! Also good to see a keeper who's willing to command his own area even though occasionally he will make mistake, actually I felt happy at the end of the game even though it was a draw.

There's nothing like a rush to judgement based on minimal evidence, is there? Sweeney is everything we need in this division and the championship, based on 2 games. James is really bad as a centre forward based on one or two full league starts and a few minutes here and there. Isn't it better to wait another 10 games for both to truly have had a chance to show what they can do and to have been tested under different types of pressure and circumstance? So true 2nd May, need to wait for a few weeks but, fingers crossed, it's looking good! Eternal optimists us gas fans. After this week I hesitate to think that what a player's worth is the important part, perhaps it should be what can you get for a player or what are you prepared to give! UTG!

He will never play for Stoke. Whether we sign him or not will depend on whether the new board want to spend some proper cash. What's the money they've just they've not spent at The Colony then not "proper cash" some mysterious type of money which has no real value?? it was monopoly money remember the al qadi family are skint and have no real money...

Riding out a poor spell, as captain, and coming through the other end might be the making of him at this level.

Dropping someone, and resting someone are completely different. DC likes to chop & change, I think Locks, along with Browner are the only players who haven't been rested this season? Now we have a lot of competition at centre back, I think DC will rest Locks with-in the next couple of games, given sweeney has just come into the team, I think he'll rest Locks to give Burn a chance.

So after standing by Locks when he's had some shockers this season he's now going to rest him after two clean sheets, whilst DC makes some unpredictable selections I can't see that happening and he's probably more likely to rest Sweeney before Locks, unless he has another poor performance this week. Although god knows what DC's going to do when Hartley & JCS return to fitness.

I don't think he's going to sign a player from Middlesbrough and keep him on the bench. Like I said before, DC likes to chop & change, and I don't think he'll change Sweeney.

I thought Sweeney was incredible against Swindon, sounded as if he had a good game against Rochdale too. Wins every ball in the air and looks confident with the ball at his feet. Think he's going to be a key part in the last 15 or so games of the season.

There's always the option that Clarke reverts back to the 3 cb's system again in which case no one gets dropped (Out of the cb's) and Burns plays

I think this decision is one for the future after seeing how Sweeney performs for the rest of the season. As regards signing him it could be a similar signing to Burns where clauses are written in so Stoke don't lose out in the future because they probably know they aren't going to use him in the Premiership. Premiership teams can afford to take the chance on signing 19 year olds for £250,000. Remember that Burns was also very highly rated by Boro but clauses have been put in his contract to protect them should he fulfil his potential. The truth is that most young players don't ever make the first team and the Premiership clubs cannot bring most of the players on in the game because of the quality and competition so would not be surprised if DC and the Board know that he may will be available next season. For me you DO NOT keep changing your defence if you want to get consistency. For me Sweeney is what we need at the back and so is Partington. There could be a case for resting both Lockyer and Browner and we now have the players to enable us to do it but after two good clean sheets why do it?
DC has quietly gone about giving us strength in depth at the back but it is probably at the detriment of the midfield and strikers where we look a bit short on quality at this level. I would like to see the Harrison/James partnership given 5 or 6 games together to see what they can achieve as a partnership. James could yet turn out to be another Matty Taylor - we just don't know but need to find out. I thought he played reasonably well on the weekend showing a bit of pace and also fairly good in the air.
I would say that the only way we will really learn about players is to give them a fair run in the side. DC's tinkling will never really prove how good individual players can be and I really hope that DC starts playing in a consistent way now which is what is required the higher you get in the game.
If he can build up the strength and quality in the midfield and attacking areas in the summer and keep the defenders we have and the goalkeeper then I really think that Darrell can become our greatest Manager ever.

You can never tell with youngsters, weren't we saying the same thing about Parkes when he first came here? Two consecutive player of the year awards

Depends how Stoke rate him, they might have made their mind up he won't make it in the prem, so 100 k might do it, you never know they gamble on young talent if one comes off great, look at that Nick Powell went to Man Utd, and has disappeared off the football map.
