I wont argue the point again,we will just have to agree to differ on the events in january. Its all about opinions.
The fact is when you look at the goals for and against and removed the JUDAS goals Rovers had the same sort of stats the teams in the relegation area have. F 30 A 50 ish...
DC I guess knew that without improving the defence its possible Rovers could slip to the lower half and potentially face relegation next season. Its not easy finding a 20+ goal a season striker and its not wise to just throw money around in a panic. Far better to address the most important factor, and that was the defence. DC signed a keeper ,two centrebacks and two fullbacks. It would appear ,judging by recent results of 1 goal conceded in 4 games that the defence issues may have been solved. IF.....and it is an IF. Rovers continue on that defensive record for the remainder of the season then they will only concede another four goals ish. This takes the pressure off the attack greatly,so if BB were to score say five goals and the other attacking players score a couple each it would be enough to bring a massive points haul and probably a play off place. That's IF.
If your auntie had a pair of bollox she would be your uncle. I agree with the above though makes sense.

Yes, but Bluebutterfly is saying what happened in the Jan window is the boards fault. Which I'm saying is completely wrong. Your post is lovely and a good attempt at rationalizing DCs thinking for not getting in a striker. Personally, I think he has made a mistake in not getting someone in. Again, it was fully DCs decision not to get in a striker and nothing to do with the board not supporting him. Unless Mr Butterfly wants to suggest that Steve Hamer and DC himself were both lying when they confirmed this was the case.

Some of the problem with this type of argument is that you infer that, if we had spent money on a new expensive forward during the transfer window, he would have fitted in to the side and scored straight away. I personally do not believe that would automatically have been the case.
City have spent over £7M on players who didn't even play in last nights game (bench warmers and not in the squadders) - look at the good that spending big has done for them.

That's not my argument at all! The rights and wrongs of signing players are for cleverer people than me.

Bluebutterfly is BLATANTLY 1973 (the one who used to have the Mickey Mouse avatar). Deleted his account in a hissy fit after getting pulled up for posting "made up" salary details if our current players. Confirmed. Just glad he's found the caps lock/shift

Anyway let's not allow this thread to go down the route it is currently headed. The point of the op remains valid and is a very good one. 6 of the starting 11 played for us in the conference and we more than matched the best side this league has to offer (home and away). Are they non-league players? Of course not. Every player who remains from the conference has been improved and moulded into league 1 standard players by our incredible manager and backroom staff. It is a fantastic time to be a gashead and championship football is looking like a real possibility within the next few years with the current setup. So may it continue. Thank you DC, you are the best thing to have happened to this football club in decades. Well done rambo, that is exactly the point. They played non league for us but have improved so much that they competed equallly with the best team outside the championship. You could spend 20 pages arguing if they are / aren't non league but they did play for us in the Conference. But thanks to DC they aren't any more. Well done all our coaching staff and management. Thank god we have a coaching staff who can actually improve players to the extent they have, must save thousands of pounds! UTG!

He forgot himself yesterday, he listed about 6 footballers names, not a single name(first or last) had a capital letter...

Unless Mr Butterfly wants to suggest that Steve Hamer and DC himself were both lying when they confirmed this was the case. Im not saying they are lying but i think the budget dc was working with didnt give him the scope to get a decent replacement for taylor. For me despite 2 consecutive promotions this was the season to go all out for promotion and i believe much to many peoples disgust that we have lacked ambition in the january window. Next season we have to begin rebuilding the squad with unknown finances for the playing side and usually when you have to rebuild its hard going and sometimes you struggle. Everytime rovers have had a good side 1950"s 1970"s 1990"s we have struggled once the teams had to be rebuilt. Obviously im in a minority on this but i think we have missed a golden oppurtunity.
