Leadbitter has got a week to recover let's hope he does or I presume we will see Tom Locks playing at right back next w/end, I don't see whoelse we have who can play there unless Wael fancies a run out? James Clark has played there quite a lot. Sorry I thought James Clarke was also injured?

Rochdale 2.2 Bradford 1.1 Sheffield Utd 0.1 Port vale 2.1 5 for (yep) BUT 5 against Rochdale 0.0 Bradford 1.1 Sheffield Utd 0.0 Port vale 1.1 2 for 2 against Tightening up of the defence is balancing out with impact on our strike force so fat
But are we doing anything differently apart from cutting out silly individual schoolboy errors?
I cant see we are but we are not creating as much for some reason so maybe im missing something.
Under one of our most successful managers - Don Megson - we had a very tight defense and rarely won by more than one goal and hardly ever lost - we can do it!

The thing I find strange is that if we were still in league two, or even worse non league and only four points off the play offs that is pretty much all everyone would be talking about on here. We know from the past that four points is nothing. Barely anybody is mentioning the play offs (me included) and we are just thinking about next season already. I don't really know why this is? Are we promotion talked out after the last two seasons?! Do we think promotion this year would be a step too far? Its most likely the fact that a fair few teams above and around Rovers have one or two games in hand...plus already having more points. After the scunny,Bolton and Oxford game there is a good run of matches against very beatable opposition. Great games for the front players to start scoring goals. Its very possible to make the playoffs and with the right results elsewhere even top two is possible [though not likely ! ] A realistic view would see a final placing between 12th and 9th , a very satisfactory season at this level.
It should be remembered that in Rovers history in League one, 34 seasons now [in its various guises but not div 3 south] the team have been..
direct promotion........two times. playoff places ...........eleven times 7th-12th place ..........eight times 13th-19th place......... ten times. 20th-24th place ........ two times.
This century its been 7th,11th,11th,16th,21st,22nd. So the current 10th is pretty good.

He looked decent early season and I think he can be forgiven a couple of dodgy performances at a time when our defence was all at sea. I'd like to see him retained, but could understand if he was to want to leave for more game time.

Sorry I don't get to the Mem early as I am still down the Sportsmans smashing down the rattler! It's 5 to 3 for me! But a fair point he seems like a good pro and certainly deserves another chance.

Agreed, never really seen him have a poor game but I've seen him have some very good ones. Newport away last year stands out in particular.

As others have said JC has done alright. Might never be in many fans best 11 but whenever I've seen him he's never let us down and has always put in a shift. I guess that's what "squad" players are meant to do. We're Bristol Rovers and not Man U, not every player in the squad will push us on but we do need these players for cover! James C is ok imo.

We've done well to come out undefeated against Rochdale, Bradford, Sheff Utd and Scunthorpe.
I know 4 points from 4 isn't great but it could have been a lot worse and you have the 3 best teams in the league there there and a really strong Rochdale side.
A few additions up top over summer and I can really see us putting in a strong challenge for the title next season. (Assuming we keep JL and can also get RS on side again but complete faith in DC to replace these brilliant signings with players just as good if they don't come back)

EH isn't a smart enough footballer to get himself into the positions that MT did. He could be the best finisher in the world but it's no good if he's not smart enough to take advantage of it.
